My heart attack

Postby hincyprus » Mon Oct 30, 2006 2:22 pm

Twinkle was the last to speak to me re my heart attack. Thank you for your kind words.

I have recovered well having now been fitted with two "stents" (tubes in the artery before you all go trawling the web). to open the arteries.

I was very lucky in that I was in the Limassol Poly Clinic when the attack happened following lower chest pains which they thought was caused by a small hiatus hernia. WRONG !!!!!!

They quickly injected me with some wonder drug (it cost C£1100) which works like an atomic bomb on blood clots and rushed me to the American Heart Institute in Nicosia.

Both the Poly and the AHI were excellent and I cannot thank them enough for the prompt and thankfully efficient service.

Can't say the same for the insurance company........they did cough up a percentage eventually but after much ranting and raving.

So, I am now on food without added salt (ooooh its hard), plenty of exercise (5km every day), little booze and I have had to give up the fags. (well almost).

In fairness the doctors did suggest sex once a month after the first month but I am totally ignoring that one. Thus I am searching for volunteers.

Before someone asks....stents are bloody expensive (between C£3500 and C£4500) but it at least saves cracking open the chest. They do it by feeding the tubes in through an artery in the groin or wrist and you are awake the whole time. It's interesting and the nurses are pretty.

Hoping for a quick recovery for you, but do give up the fags - its not worth it.

Andri, do not be upset....this is my first time on the forum since the attack and I have been well for some time but I have not been sitting on the net as much.

But beware.......H is back and I'm still not pulling punches.

Thank you for your kind thoughts

Glad everything went OK hin!

They do it by feeding the tubes in through an artery in the groin or wrist and you are awake the whole time.

Sorry, H, not much chance of a coffee. While you have beeen away, you have missed news of my plans to institute the 'Paphonian Republic of West Cyprus, with strict border controls.

The Constitution comprises:

The following are to be banned:

Politicions
Staff in Banks or shops, who are rude
All lawyers.
Taxes
Government employees
Anyone who says. 'Cyprus is not as good as it was 10 years ago'

I am thinking of adding Hunters and smokers to the list!

The National Guard compound will be converted into a jail, to house all the above and be renamed: 'The County Farm' (I watch too many American movies). The inmates will make up a chain gang who will build some decent roads - another 'First' for Paphos.

The following products will be heavily subsidised:

All clothes and jewelry.

A true democracy:

One Man - One Vote, One Woman - Two Votes :-)

The Black eyed Peas will write and peform the National Anthem.

The National dish will be Souvla and eating it at least once a week will be compulsory.

All criminals will be deported to Limassol :-)

I will personally deal with all Immigration applications, which must accompanied by a (non-refundable) $10,000 note.

I wont go on further or Sotos will start a poll as to whether the Republic is a good idea or not :-)
