The calendar of Turkish atrocities

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Alexis » Thu Nov 02, 2006 6:25 pm

Most of the Greeks who died did so at the hands of other Greeks, a fact that the West rarely focuses on...

Hi Zan. Is this really a fact? Is this talking about the people who's graves have been founbd only or is this talking about all the GCs that died in 1974? If it is the later, how can we be so sure?

We can never be sure but Piratis has said many times that not many TCs were killed in the coup and EOKA killed many more GCs. Just helping him out with his theory.

It would be in character as EOKA killed more GC political opponents between 1955 and 1960 that they did British and Turkish Cypriots combined.

Of course you are not proud of your nations past

Admit it !!!

You are in fact Ashamed Mehmetis !!!!

Are you not ashamed of yours?

In the Republic of Cyprus we have a multicultural tolerance and acceptance of other nationalities.

Russian, English, Indians Maronite's, Lebanese, Chinese, Polish, Italians,
Africans, Muslims, Christians, Hindus, protestants, catholics, orthodox, Buddhists and many many more.

Non of these are having problems living here.

The law, the facilities, the opportunity, are all the same for everyone.......apart of course from the Turks of this world who feel they are different and they are not able to live along site all these other people.

What does make you different?

Why are you striving to be the most hated nation on this earth?

I think you are looking at this from too small a perspective, which in your case is Greek. You should read more on what is happening around the world and widen your horizons. You are taking this far too personally and it is clouding your judgement.

Marikkou, you are going off topic but I will point out that people from many nations live also in Turkey in peace, you're getting carried away with your anti Turksih rhetoric, come back down to earth and we will talk more sensibly. ella bano

That's not the point though is it? Zan's quote from the Cyprus Mail asserted that it was a fact that:

'Most of the Greeks who died did so at the hands of other Greeks, a fact that the West rarely focuses on... '

I wanted to know which Greeks this was referring to. If it is the refering to the entire sum of GCs killed in 1974 then where is the evidence (the sources) that show this to be true. This is propaganda used by the Turkish goivernment to deny their crimes in Cyprus in 1974 and as far as I have seen there is no evidence to suggest that this is the case. If you can however point me to some definitive evidence the please do so.

With regards your assertion I got the following data from here:

http://www.regiments.org/wars/20thcent/ ... casualties

peak forces total forces total dead
Britain 40,000 104
Turk Cypriots 400* 84
subtotal 203
EOKA 300
Greek Cypriots 366**
subtotal 366

*. Turkish Militia
**. Includes 200 killed by EOKA for opposing their cause.

So if the above are correct (not saying they are) then you are in fact wrong, EOKA did not manage to kill more GCs than British and TCs combined. I do take the point that they killed more GCs than were killed by the British and TC forces combined.

Hey, as far as I know not that many people were killed by EOKA, during the campaign...although I could be wrong...

Peace! :)

Alexis

I understand the information at:

http://www.regiments.org/wars/20thcent/ ... casualties
to be:

79 British KIA (Killed In Action), the remaining being deaths in Cyprus due to traffic accidents, natural causes etc.
84 TCs killed because of EOKA.
Total British + TC deaths = 163

The same site gives 200 GCs killed by EOKA for opposing their cause.

So, more GCs were killed by EOKA than Brits and TCs combined.

The number of GCs killed by EOKA is also likely to be an underestimate as the relatives of 'traitors' killed by EOKA came under great pressure to state to the (British) authorities that the deaths were from causes other than EOKA.
