Electricity prices

Postby Snad » Wed Oct 25, 2006 10:49 am

Has anyone else noticed that Electricity prices have sky rocketed?

My bill from middle august to middle of october has jumped up 20cyp a month and we didn't even have the A/C on once, in the those months just used fans. I knew it had gone up, but a bit shocked at how much!!

Hello Snad

Can you give some details of the prices you pay, that is

is there a standing charge
how much per unit -

In the UK, I am paying a service charge of 13.73 per day or £11.53 per quarter
and 9.02 pence per unit (need to check what a unit is)

There is then 5% VAT added

Not sure but I think the unit is a Kilo Watt Hour, so 9.02pence per kWh plus 5% VAT
Was confused because we also use gas and that is 2.26pence per kWh plus 5% VAT, much cheaper.

Or ask them to send the bill in english, don't pay for anything you don't understand.

our bill for 2 months is huge!! 225 cyp for electric in a 2br flat.. it's unreal.. we've asked them recently to supply us with a new meter to see if ours is faulty cause no one here pays that much for a 2br flat.. we dont' even use the AC that much in the summer.. it's crazy

Some days ago I heard on the radio that many people were complaining about mistakes in their Electricity bills! If you are paying more than usual for no apparent reason then maybe you should investigate the issue more!
