on the other side of what you said, there is a report from 7 (men and women)muslim intellectuals , arguing that there is discrimination against muslim immigrants. it is very interesting read if you have the time, even though i personally disagree with a number of things they say. you can download it here if you are interested to see how they view the world :

if you want my opinion, i disagree both with you and with them. there is no new and old immigrant attitude (what you argue) and there is no discrimination against the muslim immigrants (what they argue).
the discrimination is always between rich and poor. and new immigrants are always the ones to suffer - leading them too often towards criminality. the history of the most powerful (immigrant) state in the world if full of these stories. the british (or americans ? ) discriminated against the irish, and they in turn against the blacks...later the italians and the greeks were also discriminated upon (there is evidence that criminality between greek immigrants in the early 1900s was higher than between other ethnic groups). now, they are all richer and the discriminated against the hispanic-speaking immigrants. this is unfortunately the history of the immigrant.
as for gcypriots (and greeks). dont they have churches everywhere ? isnt it the place where they meet? dont they have their schools ? isnt that multiculturalism ? or is it only our (good) culture that should have that right and not all the rest ?
i dont know about you, but the most religious cypriots i met are immigrants. the church serves for many as a meeting place and a unifying factor.
as for the comment you made that our schools do not affect the children politically, i really doubt if you know how schools work. schools, all schools are full of propaganda. everywhere. especially for immigrants for whom the target of their country is to keep the "national feeling" as high as possible.
and besides, you might be a big fun of england, but again most of the immigrants i met are the whole time swearing at the states at england at germany etc. mind you i dont agree with them, since i also often ask the question : but they gave you jobs. the answer i usually receive is : i work and i get paid. they gave me nothing. (you can tell me, if your way of thinking or theirs is the most popular among our immigrants)
