ok, so the proposal is as follows:

Turkey must:
Return Varosha
Open its ports to RoC

EU must:
continue Turkeys accession talks
ease trade sanctions on TRNC
allow trade from TRNC through the port in Famagusta under UN supervision




it all sounds pretty fair...but the problem is that i dont believe ease of sanctions will actually result in EU allowing trade to the EU from TRNC...and they have not promised to allow it either...I also dont think the port and trade would be very efficient under EU supervision...afterall, whats there to supervise?...I think if this was allowed, this is a pretty fair deal...right? any opinions on the proposal?

there are all kind of tricks included in that proposal.
i.e it is not clear if we are talking about an actual return of varoshia.
it is not clear if we are talking about the principle (signing the protokol) or opening some ports.
it is not clear what "ease" the sanctions mean.

it will get really "hot" till december. till then we can only speculate

I think by the end Finland will be so sick of us all that they will cancel talks with turkey and kick cyprus out of the EU...Save themselves the headache...lol
