If you have an EU licence not a Cypriot Licence, DO NOT exchange it for an Cypriot licence...

They cannot add points to it, and can only fine you... This comes from senior police in nicosia...

Your (british or other) EU licence is fully legal

In north Cyprus 100 points in 18 months and your licence if gone for 3 months. Just over the speed limit starts from 15 points. Drink and drive costs you 100 points i.e. if caught with alchohol, your licence confiscated automatically.

Got caught by a speedtrap (handheld radar). I have a UK driving license but still got 2 points on my ID card?

Also, who do I contact if I want to see the calibration certificate of the actual radar that caught me?

Hazza, you will be wasting your time asking to see the calibration certificates. They never do it properly but will never admit to it. If you trust your skills you do not pay the fine and when taken to court you give them a bloody hard time. You have to defend yourself personally. don't expect a lawyer (Advocate) to do it for you. Most of them are useless at technical matters. I am an expert at that. I am an electrical engineer with over 45 years of experience in law as a hobby. This is the sort of combination you need, otherwise forget it. I have done it a few times. the most famous one was when the Attorney General filed a "Nolle Proseque" which means he wanted to withdraw the case half way through. I insisted on a proper acquittal. I took the matter to the Constitutional Court and had the authority of the AG cut down. Then I had a proper acquittal in my own right.

By the way guys if when you are going in police to pay for the speed ticket with points and police didn't write the points inside the driving licence! This doesn't means that they just forgot to write them, Police started to put points in computer so be careful.

Are there a lot of road accidents in the north, elko? I'm assuming you live there :)
