Hello

I recently come back from North Cyprus and while I was out there I asked about how easy it was to find a job.

Aparently it is very easy. The best thing to do is go out there armed with lots of printed CV's. Go round and see all the estate agents and building developers and you'll have plenty of job offers!!

Also they advertise jobs in the local newspapers.

Hope this is of help

In occupied Cyprus those criminals rule. There is a high demand for crooks

Those developers and estate agents in occupied Cyprus make money by selling Greek Cypriot property illegally. They are criminals. Is this ridiculous to you? To me is very serious.

There is a lot of land in the North that has always belonged to the turks, similarly there is land in the South that was owned by the Turkish pre 1974 that has never been given back!!!

Things are not always black and white!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Having been in the occupied north only a few times I can't really answer your question .

But I can repeat a conversation I had with a couple in the departure lounge of Larnaca airport earlier this year.

They had been told by an estate agent that there were no problems in getting a job in Cyprus ( ROC ) as everybody spoke English and they could virtually walk into a well paid job.

They had put down a deposit on a house on this understanding and were planning to move to Cyprus within 6 months --- they were more than a little shocked when I explained the problems in finding employment and when I told them what the average salary per month was they kept correcting me by saying "don't you mean a week".

The moral of this story is don't believe what the estate agents tell you or anybody else for that matter --- find out for your self and be prepared for a shock.

I would imagine it's more difficult to find a job in the North than in the South-- I for one wouldn't want to live or work there for both moral and security reasons.

Why not buy in the free area -- the south -- it may cost you a few extra pounds but at least you will have have peace of mind -- knowing that what ever you have bought will actually be yours.

I agree, it is very difficult to find work in Cyprus.. not sure about the North as I really have had no desire to work over there let alone live over there. BlondeBabe1977 weren't you just a few weeks ago asking about jobs in Cyprus (south)?? Believe me, if you can't find a job down here, you won't find one up there.. Had a friend working over in the North for sometime.. for security, financial, and personal reasons (homosexuality is wideley practised over there and he was being approached almost daily by men) he left the north, bought down here and is very happily self employed.
It took me 7 months in Cyprus to find a job that suited me.. and believe me.. the pay is not good!!
