An opposite story: I've bought mine a couple of years ago at a regular price included all taxes. If I were selling it next year the price would likely be cheaper on the tax amount, compared to that with just normal depreciation. Does it mean that starting from some point we will become eventual payers of the road duty, from which our buyers would be exempted?

Sorry, trying to be more concise. Let say next year I decide to sell my car, which I bought two years ago for £5K. That price for a used car included duties of let say a thousand pounds. If no changes in duties occured now, next year I would ask 3.5K for my car. But duties have been reduced on a half. Does this mean my car loses 500 pound immediately? Used cars imported after the reduction are now sold at a price including only 500 pounds of duties, not 1K as before.

YES! Your car will be competing for sale against others, on which much lower tax was levied.

Correct, however, your new car will also be cheaper as well, so its swings and roundabouts...

Ok with the new changes and all I just bought a 2003 Honda CRV and will be sending it over. With the new tax laws I should be paying only about £3,000 tax. Excellent.

I assume a 2003 CRV would cost, in the UK, less than half the price of a 2007 model in Cyprus.

The Registration Fee will be around £500, here.

Hi Marinos

My guestimeate of what it will cost, assuming 4,400 cc:

4400 x £4.5 per cc = £19,800 less age related reduction of (7/9 x 85%) = £6710.

£6710 + VAT a 15% = £7716.

Plus Registration Fee: 4400 x £.6 = £2640

So, in total £10,356.

I could be a couple of hundred pounds out either way.
