Washing machines nowadays are designed to use less water and wash at lower temperatures.
By the time a machine is up to capacity the hot water has not reached it. Only the cold water already in the pipework will have reached the machine. Unless you have an instantaneous water heater plumbed in right next to your machine, cold fill is the best option.
