Is oroklini so bad?

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

We have a good mix of locals and Brits down in the Southwest part of the "village" ( what exactly defines a village - Oroklini is expanding into more of a town!) and we all get along just fine. I agree with Orokliniservices comments about the tourists lack of parental interest where their little cherubs are concerned (some, but not all I hasten to add).
If nightlife is important to you, there's a good variety to be found just outside the village boundary, catering to most age-groups and interests, and several taverns here in the heart of Oroklini itself.
Having toured the island extensively, we wouldn't want to move anywhere else. :D

thanx a lot u guys

was starting to worry there, but of the same time want the combination of both- even though of greek origin don't want to be stuck in a village/small town with no english/cypriot english --would be too homesick, and too much of a culture shock enough to make me want to go back!
nice to know you can combine both.
maybe arrange an evening to meet some off what will hopefully be new neighbours

I live in Oroklini, but not in the village. I live off Dhekelia road and I love it. I am surrounded by Cypriot neighbours and they are lovely.

Nothing wrong in living in an ex-pat neighbourhood, only some will tell you they are lepers.
If the place you have found is what you want, then go for it I say!!

in response to that anastacia,

spent many months dedicated to looking for land and unless you can be in the middle of no-where, (ie no kids, work, LIFE, probably electricity and water) all the prices are extortionate.
the greeks have woken up and are selling off their land at MASSIVE profits that they bought for next to nothing but the developers are paying ridiculous prices for.
unfortunately for us but fortunately for them the land prices continue to rise everywhere.

so its not just oroklini that is overpriced- the whole island is.

my opinion only

Hi Chrisp

I am not sure of land/property is 'overpriced'. Any item is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, so the law of Supply and Demand fixes prices - not developers or land owners.

hi svetlana

i totally agree with you.

i too was just trying to point to anastacias reply, that the land in oroklini or anywhere else is so high because , as you say, the demand is there , and it is worth whatever anyone is willing to pay.

personally, we are thinking of purchasing some land we saw in oroklini that we loved - we are willing to pay the price.
maybe others wouldn't pay that price, but we want it and hopefully it will go through.

just a little miffed at everyone knocking oroklini area - surely it wouldn't be so popular if the demand wan't there!

thanks

I dont know the area, only a quick drive through last year to see what the area was like; I assume it is an easy place to commute from, that pushes prices up. And close to the sea, as I recall...
