Many years ago, 1974 to be exact, I went to the offices of Olympic Airways at Tottenham Court Road and booked our flight to Cyprus for July 13th, 1974. That was two months in advance. They did not want any deposit but I insisted to pay and did so against a receipt. I was supposed to obtain the ticket two weeks before the flight. When the time came I went to the same office to get my tickets and I was told that the flight was fully booked, would I like a booking for later? I refused and I said that I was going to make a booking with British Airways for the same date. They assured me that BA would be fully booked up too. I told them that I could definitely get first class places. "Ah but that will be too expensive" they told me. I answered back, "No problem, you are going to pay the difference". They got the point and they booked me on a days flight instead the evening and they paid the slight difference.
Funny thing, We had to make the return flight with Hercules Transport Plane from Akrotiri. I asked for the return fare back and they offered me half the ticket price less 20% for cancellation. I took them to court and got a full refund plus expenses, including the price of the book "How to sue in a County Court".
Ah well, it is very handy if your hobby is law
