The Cyprus Issue: A British View

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Andri,
Possibly. But he should really get himself more familiarised with the history of the problem (even if it starts before his time) before he starts to condemn one side so completely.

Andri

I do take your point - I really do, so maybe one of our Gc posters may wish to enlighten him.

Yes Issy he probably should. But telling him shame on you for stuff he might not even have been born for, do you think that will make him read some more history? Of course it is frustrating people are starting to care a bit too late. But isn't later better than never?

I'm a little uncomfortable with this upper case announcement by this new poster, even if the rest of the posting was lower case and better punctuated.

As a Brit I wouldn't describe my compatriots as voiceless or faceless, and if they started shouting they gain a persona!

What was said was pointedly pro GC, all very nice, music to GC's ears.
Beware Greeks bearing gifts?

Hmmmm...... Are we in for a walk or a stroll? Remember Greek Cypriot Gurl?

Have a nice day.

Why what did he do?

I think that's Azil Nadir. Here are some resources from the web regarding him:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/cyprus/story/ ... 62,00.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asil_Nadir

The Serious Fraud Office really want to see this guy. They plan to indict him for fraud. I saw an interview with him in Northern Cyprus a few years ago. The interview was at a house in Lapithos which belongs to some family friends. If Mr Nadir lives there he has done very well for himself.

Thanks Alexis but I did actually know who this man is. I was just fishing to see what Gman knew about him before he condemned him.

Father and son Nadir have a lot more to answer for than the silliness behind stock investments. I too hope he gets his comuppence from the people he cheated most. His own people.

There is a rumour that he was actually double crossed by a Greek accountant that he hired. I have no idea if this is true or not. Do you have any information on this?

If Turkey is a puppy at 80, what was the RoC at age 14 when Turkey invaded? Mistakes were made by the RoC at it's very birth yet Turkey want to eternally punish the RoC?? Allowances should be made given the age of the ROC, surely?

I podium

I think a more appropriate name would be immodium. so if you think this is a typical of British attitudes why is it that British are buying a lot of houses in the north. Certainly not because they share your opinion.

The Brits who buy houses on GC land in the north are nothing but Greedy Ignorant Thieves. There are plenty of GITS in Britain and elsewhere of course, but that's why there are British buying 'a lot of houses in the north'.

Just waiting to hear ONE JUST ONE TC admit the selling of GC properties is wrong both morally and both in terms of eventually finding a solution.

Well

I've just read the upper case announcement again and ran it through a nifty little semantic spell checker that can spot a not English, as their first language speaker a mile off.

Our IMMATERIAL faceless Brit is no such thing! English as spoken in todays Britain is not his or her first language!

UNUSUAL USE
WRONG SYNTAX
CONTRADICTORY
UNUSUAL SPELLING

A British View, yeah, using Google Earth maybe.
