hi friends, i m lalit from singapore and planning to do a course of either culinery arts or hotel management from cyprus from Intercollege, i m going to take a very big step so i hv few questions in my mind, i wud really appreciate if u cn help in in this case becoz web sites and study agents never tell the reality so plz plz help me

1st question-
# which course Culinary Arts Or Hotel Management?
# where sud i apply at intercollege nicosia or larnaca?
# cn i find part time job in hotels or resurtants?
# Accomodation, and most imp, what bout my carrier after completing 2 yrs dimloma course, cn i get a good job easily/?????

You have to ask yourself that question. The two subjects are very different!

Maybe you can do it as part of your course. Otherwise only illegally.

It depends what you mean by good job 2 year diploma is not a very high education.

why come to cyprus? i really dont think its a good idea, you will be disappointed with it and wish you had not. you cant work legally whilst at college, prejudice is rife here, so please rethink or really do your homework and talk to others that have done it.. before you leap as sotos said 2 years wont get you a good job or even a job here.. and certainly no money.

against foreigners, sri lankans are servants to most cypriots.. but find out others opinion go on a forum where sri lankans and other asians are and ask them what their opinion is of cyprus , working and studying..

As said by others on the thread a 2 year diploma course will not get you a top position in the hospitality industry. It will however get you a position which will enable you to 'climb the ladder.

At the moment it seems that every other student in Cyprus is studying for a degree in Hotel/Hospitality management.

My advice would be to train as a chef (culinary arts). The job may not be
'as glamorous' But at the end of the day most chefs can command a higher salary than the front of house departments.

i think in Singapore there are two good universities, why bother to studying abroad?
