Car Hire

Postby mountainman » Mon Oct 02, 2006 7:43 pm

I have some friends arriving in Paphos at the end of the month for one week, they want to rent a car for their stay.
So far Easy Car has come up with the best quote at aroynd CY£120.
Has anyone got any better suggestions?

You can get a Toyota Yaris 5 door for 7 days for £120 UK pounds through www.Arguscarhire.com we have used them and they were fine. I don't think Easy Car deliver to the airport you may have to get a taxi to them plus the car has to be returned spotlessly clean and no scratches at all - they are really fussy. Argus will be at the airport for you. You will get a voucher and see someone at the airport. Anyway check them out and see what you think.

we hired a car for some friends through an office in Kissonager, the car was waiting for them when they arrived and they left it there when they flew out, managed to get it for 112.00cyp for the week, their number is 26 943 943 ask for Sandra.

good luck :)

I think you'll find that a lot of companies like Easy Car do not in fact opperate in Cyprus, they meerly pass your booking on to a 'partner'. With easy car that would probably be Euro Car or Budget.

When hiring a car make sure you take the time to discuss the small print with the rental agent, get a comprehensive vehicle condition report and whatever insurance excesses in writing. I'm not saying that all car hire companies here are unscrupulous but you do need to be wary of hidden charges. If you are hiring a car from Paphos Airport you will also probably be charged for a tank of fuel ( often way overcharged) and you should be advised that no refunds are given for any fuel left in the tank, mostly because no car hire company opperates a 24hr office and there are no offices in the Departures building.

And mostly remember that cheapest will not always be best. Ask the rental agent if the company opperates a 24hr breakdown assistance, car replacement in the event of mechanical failure, what insurances are included in the price and agree any damage on the vehicle before you take posesion.
