As a relatively newcomer to this form, how can I check the list of members and their profiles? So far I can only see those online.

How about this as an example of racial misunderstanding :-
A West Indian approached a Jewish gentleman standing at a bus-stop and enquired in his usual friendly manner, " Hey, what time is the next bus due man ?" to which the Jew replied, " I don't know you black bastard !"
