ok so when theres a thread about somebody moving to cyprus, theres people suggesting not to move where theres a lot of expats, but theres also a few threads around where people seek expants to hang out with. can anyone give me an insight on what you guys prefer? a mini-england? a remote village in the middle of butt f-ck nowhere, or one of the cities, which one and why.
i'm just being curious, hehe

I first came to Cyprus 30 years ago and fell in love with the people and the culture. I married a cypriot girl 28 years ago (still going strong) From a mountain village to this day I still prefer the mountain villages as you say 'in the middle of butt fu*k nowhere' I dont think I could ever envisage myself living amongst an ex pat community I think the whinging would 'do my head in'!
Having said that although we own our cottage in the mountains and will eventually retire there I do have a flat in Nicosia which I use as a base for work when I'm over in Cyprus and which I also use when I need a couple of nights city living!
I think that where expats decide to live depends very much on the person(s) involved.
A lot of Brits seem to be happy just living in there little Britain in the sun (not for me) where they dont have to learn the language and feel no need to join in local events and culture.
So to answer your question 'Give me a village in the middle of butt fu*k nowhere with genuine people and hospitality anyday.

i dont live with expats, i dont care who i live with, i live regardless of who is around me.. i do not depend on anyone, i dont need anyone.. i live and work and eat and sleep.. i love the sun and the flowers and the rest of nature in all its diversity.. as far as people are concerned its only the ones that have emotional intelligence and an ethic similar to myself that i let into my life. its not what you are but who you are, its not what you earn or who you know, but what you have learnt and how you think and feel....

are you serious rawk? i am sorry but i meant every word i have said, if you doubt me then spend a day with me and see someone who is a damn sight more real than you.. i swear that what i have said is the truth and i smoke only gold leaf and trust me i dont need those that do not think as i do.. and strangely enough there are a few that do.. so when are we going to meet, enter my world and see that there are people who dont give a crap about what you have or what car you drive or who you know.. but only care about how real you are...
