Travelling by car to cyprus

Postby steveash » Thu Sep 28, 2006 7:40 pm

Does any one know if their is a car ferry that runs from Greece to south Cyprus, how often it runs and the sort of price it costs?
We are going to be moving to Cyprus soon and will be driving from the UK across Europe but seem to be struggling to find a car ferry for the last leg!!

sorry steve - but you have missed the boat!

Louis Lines do a holiday cruise from Pireaus - but only in the summer months.

I understand you can drive to Athens & then have the car shipped & you fly.

We looked at ALL the options as we wanted to drive over - using it as a holiday!

In the end we had to go for the shipping option from here in France - we arrive back in Cyprus next week!!!!

We are hoping to travel at the end of August next year, any idea what months the car ferry sails from?

Hi Steve

The last date this year was the 3rd week in August!

I think the best & the cheaper way would be to use a shipping company - yes you will have to hire a car in Cyprus for a couple of weeks but it does work out cheaper!

If we can be of any further help just email us direct on [email protected]

ferry to Southern Cyprus

Salamis line has suspended it's route to Limassol, but I have been told that Louis lines may be operating.
We are moving to Cyprus in January and are hoping to drive down too.

Hi Ratgam

Louis Lines ONLY do the cruise in the summer months!

There is a roll-on ferry (car only) leaving Athens on a Monday & Thursday - it take 2 days to get there.

You then have to fly over.

Their number is; 0030 210 4294325...

Ps In the end we had all our gear shipped over --- it worked out about the same £££

Good Luck

Any one have any idea about the costs for shipping stuff over to cyprus from the UK? we will be looking at about 10 boxes 3 foot square as we have decided to hire a car and drive to Greece and then fly due to the "issues" regarding importing a used car and the potential costs involved once we get there!!!

Hi Steve

Speak to Pat at Armishaws Removals on 01963 34065 or 0800 917 1015- he sorted us out with no problems & we where moving from France to Cyprus via the UK...

Also there is a lot of changes to the car import tax happening this month --- give Gwenny a call on 00357 26 931 262 for advice - she charges £15 p/hr but she is good! She will advise you on the best & cheapest way to bring a car into Cyprus.
