Turkey must respect its EU commitments

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

It was NOT about blocking the budget!

When the EU at some stage started thinking of violating what was agreed yeeears before concerning Cyprus, despite the fact that Cyprus negotiated successfully all chapters and despite the fact that it proved beyond any doubt a solution was not found because of Turkeys and Denktashes intrangidence, Greece threatened that she would also WITHDRAW her consent for EU enlargement towards the ex-German satelite states!

It was a perfectly moral and justified threat.
I hope the matter is now clearer.

She gave a warning after her own time was UP??? What was she doing all these years? It was entirely upto her to solve the Cyprus problem all those years, yet the only thing she was doing through Denktash was to repeat "problem solved in 1974". It seems VP you were not living on this planet around 2000 AD.

Of course it was too late. Too late after the too late grace period granted to her. She got used to be too late. It’s one year now she was let in the EU, she’s done absolutely nothing in solving the Cyprus problem -let aside her own internal problems- the technical committees agreed with Anan have not even been formed, and she thinks she can still go on. After she gets another slap on the face she will start crying is everyones fault except hers….

I repeat Turkey still HAS a way out. She has 1 month left. VAROSH!A !! I will not be surprised if she loses that one too. And then start crying once again.

Can also be called blackmail.not really justified me thinks....once the EU realized the hot potato they were letting in they got cold feet but good old fashioned blackmail got around that issue didn't it Pyrpolizer. If it was the Turks/TCS who did this we would again be classed the scum of the earth. one set of rules for you another for me.

I agree Turkey should have done a lot more in blocking your entry until a solution was found that would have ensured your genuine desire to negotiate a solution. Knowing that you were going into the EU really didn't give you any incentive to use the last opportunity to produce a plan you could say yes to.

Nothing she is the one who gave 10 point plan at the beginning of 2006 and asked Annan to restart talks. As far as we know the hold up for the technical committees is down to your side, ask your own politicians to expose the hold up I'm sure they cant.

You watch her go on her way, will you be surprised upset or just cry that she got passed the hurdles you will continue to put in her way. You really have to look to your side for some of the answers you are obviously very biased and cannot see the full picture. Turkey for you the dragon to be slaughtered at all costs.

I repeat Turkey still HAS a way out. She has 1 month left. VAROSH!A !! I will not be surprised if she loses that one too. And then start crying once again.

Let see who will be crying at the end of the day, Turkey can fight her own battles don't worry, but even then you will make excuses, GCs have turned it into and art form.

That’s how the EU works. It’s a collective body where unless you defend you interests you lose. It’s not a divine body that makes divine decisions…. Besides it was an agreement, and it is bacause of that agreement that Turkey got her date.

But I never said that, so how do you agree with me? I said Turlkey should have utilised her time in working towards a solution so that a United Cyprus enters the EU. I did not say she should have utilised her time to block Cyprus from entering the EU.

Were those 10 points accepted by the UN as a neutral basis to restart talks, like the technical committees were accepted and hence promoted?

I prefer to talk with facts. Fact1. The technical committees were accepted by the Un as a neutral basis to start negotiations Fact 2. Your side had objections. Fact3. Moler, the UN representative, propsed some changes to overcome your sides objections. Fact4. Our side accepted Molers suggestions immediately. Fact5. Your side has not yet answered. Fact 6. The Technical committees have not yet even been formed, waiting for you sides answer.
Am I missing something?

Are you using "you" in general or you mean "me" personally? If you mean me personally sorry you are wrong. My only interest is to analyse the situation and see where we will get. I look at every eventuallity within a very cold spectrum.

Then you have no right to complain when you are on the receiving end and you will be no worries.

That was another option but blocking your entry would not have allowed you that comfort cushion which you used when voting the Annan plan down for a EU solution.

At minimum it showed Turkey was willing to engage in regular dialogue but of course this is not what your side wanted at the time, they always want to dictate the pace and when we will talk.
I would like for once to see your side agree to anything our side suggests.

YES Moller was informed that we are ready to proceed weeks ago.

So you still insist the aim of Turkey should have been to block Cyprus’s EU entry???

At miimum it showed Turkey was willing to discuss on her own terms and conditions.
Just show me ONE of your suggestions that was ever considered by the UN balanced enough to be adopted. Or one you personally think it is balanced and explain me why.

Nopes! Your letter to Moler was we agree BUT… It was not unconditional. So another dead end on the horizon.

So after all the things I said this is what you concluded?

Of course without EU entry you would have negotiated the Annan plan with more sincere and genuine perspective rather that negotiate something you were going to shoot down plus if you had no guaranteed entry you would not of had the comfort of the cushion of the EU. You recall the attitude of many GCs and your leaders if we accept the Annan plan its all over if we hold out for and EU plan we can get more of our demands as they are bound to support us as we are in and Turkey is out. The unfair advantage is very evident today and this leverage you will use to try and extract your demands with.

Rubbish, it showed willing that Turkey was prepared to come back to the table with all parties concerned.

Just show me ONE of your suggestions that was ever considered by the UN balanced enough to be adopted. Or one you personally think it is balanced and explain me why.

The Annan plan (resoundingly voted down by GCs), simultaneous opening of ports, opening of border, demining, opening of churches in north, opening of telephone line and others that do not spring to mind right now.

Nopes! Your letter to Moler was we agree BUT… It was not unconditional. So another dead end on the horizon.

Those issues were ironed out please recheck, its your side holding things up.

So after all the things I said this is what you concluded?

Your every argument is anti anything Turkish and that includes the TCs we are just an inconvenience blocking your path from getting what you want. Well we however much you may hate if nothing better comes along you will be hearing our TRNC voices for many years to come so get used to it.

How naοve you are dear VP. If there weren’t a Cyprus EU entry there wouldn’t be an Anan Plan there wouldn’t even be a date for Turkey!

wrote: Rubbish, it showed willing that Turkey was prepared to come back to the table with all parties concerned.

Prepared to come back assuming her own 10 point terms were accepted? Well her terms were thrown in the dustbin by the UN themselves hence she did not come back to the table.
So if Turkey was as willing as you said, then why did she not come to the table after the UN trew her terms in the dustbin?

Now tell me which of those were YOUR_suggestions, AND_were balanced, AND_we rejected.Make sure you justify your resoning as to why they were balanced.

The pressure from the EU could have still been mobilized to give way to the creation of the Annan plan even if the south was not guaranteed entry into the EU even if the rejected the plan.

They were not thrown into the bin by UN or EU they were rejected by your GC administration.

Now tell me which of those were YOUR_suggestions, AND_were balanced, AND_we rejected.Make sure you justify your resoning as to why they were balanced.

Do you really expect me to sit here for the next hour and put down all this information if you cant work it out for yourself then you should go do your own research.

Calm down. I dont hate anyone.

Ho i think you do this venom is inherent in many GCs. Clouds your judgement into think anything Turkish is wrong and evil.

Finland is trying to broker a deal with Turkey - Vanhanen told the Finnish parliament that they're trying to open direct EU trade with the TC in return for Turkey accepting Cyprus registered vessels to their ports.

Why live with the past!

The annan plan is past. is dead. it was a plan, a compromise that was not accepted as satisfactory for all concern.

Finland is only doing what they suppose to do. trying to show the rest of the EU members that is trying to get a compromise about an issue.

Truly though the Finland are also weary about Turkey not keeping it obligations and the fact remains that turkey has made no progress for whole lot of other issues.
