Pitsilos , in one of your recent posts you mentioned that you have not visited Cyprus for some 39 years , please correct me if I'm wrong. Allow me to express my dismay at the extreme views with witch you hold the T/Cs , and let me say , as I have said a thousand times before , that I have numerous T/C friends here in the UK whom I respect and consider them my Cypriot compatriots. and they in return respect and consider me their friend regardless as some differences that surface from time to time , such differences are usually eliminated or demoted to a level that constitutes no threat to our relationship. I'm a passionate Cypriot , a Greek Cypriot , but a believer in the divine right of all Cypriots to live peacefuly and safely in the country that they call their country.

I do find it offensive when the word "barbarians " is used in a derogatory fashion since that would would imply that I socialise and interact with barbarians , and I DO NOT . They are civilised decent individuals that want precisely what we want . Peace with honour . Lets leave insults to the mindless individuals.

zan
There are many faces to the Greek propaganda machine and as we are taking the gloves off as far as opinions go, then I say that you are one of those faces. You are the face of osmosis. You promote the “Cypriot” as if it were a holy entity that we should all become but do not even dare to think what the actual cost is to the TC.

Very well said Zan but this fact goes over the head of many "Cypriots" who know full well that this will become reality within a very short due to their numerical advantage therefore absorbing the TC people into non existence.

miltiades
You share the view of VP

Sorry to burst your bubble miltiades but many TCs do, you have to come to terms with this fact and instead of burying your head in the sand and ignoring the facts of 46 years that these 2 communities cannot resolve their problems purely because these are not issues either side will yield to and that agreeing division is the only way forward.

I stand by my beliefs and you stand by yours. I have the International community behind me who recognise me as a Cypriot , not Greek not Turk. You have Turkey behind you and you are in the minority , as I believe that the overwhelming T/C majority want a united Cyprus and they are intelligent enough to appreciate the concerns expressed by the majority in rejecting the Annan Plan.

You say I bury my head in the sand , that is absurd its like the kettle calling the pot black. You refuse to acknowledge my commitment to one Cyprus and you rush to congratulate the other " foreigner " for insulting me.
You fail to recognize the Cypriot state as well as the Cypriot pound that is widely and gratefully accepted in the occupied part by all establishments. Have you tried using the Turkish currency in the RoC ?

You Sir , are the remnants of the past who like a stubborn mule refuse to badge one inch even for the sake of generations to come.

You are a truly gifted demagogue and I'm sure somewhere along the line a direct descendant of the Denktash family tree , good luck with your illusionary road to a fools paradise . I , in the meantime will continue building bridges so that our people can cross together while you and the likes of you no doubt will persevere with the construction of concrete barriers that future generations will tear down with their bare hands.

Listen Zan. When you first mentioned you suffer from depression I felt sorry for you.Honestly. Why do you write these, are you trying to force me comment on your personal condition? No man, I refuse, I will say nothing in return.

I stand by my beliefs and you stand by yours.

Thank you, we can agree to disagree.

I have the International community behind me who recognise me as a Cypriot , not Greek not Turk.

Who I am sure will bring the solution you seek to your feet...keep waiting.

You have Turkey behind you and you are in the minority ,

I agree.

as I believe that the overwhelming T/C majority want a united Cyprus and they are intelligent enough to appreciate the concerns expressed by the majority in rejecting the Annan Plan.

You are banking on the TCs YES to much don't forget they said yes to reunification Annan style which you rejected. That's the level of security they require to say yes anything less and you will see a resounding no from us.

You fail to recognize the Cypriot state as well as the Cypriot pound that is widely and gratefully accepted in the occupied part by all establishments. Have you tried using the Turkish currency in the RoC ?

All currencies are acceptable in the north this was the case many years ago you have only just started to convert currency since joining the EU you had a closed exchange regime which you had to bring in line with more modern systems. The Turkish Lira is accepted as convertible currency all over Europe accept the Greek south for obvious reasons.

You Sir , are the remnants of the past who like a stubborn mule refuse to badge one inch even for the sake of generations to come.

You are right I will not put my community at risk, so I will argue everything i feel is a threat to the existence and well being.

You are a truly gifted demagogue and I'm sure somewhere along the line a direct descendant of the Denktash family tree , good luck with your illusionary road to a fools paradise

Thank you for allowing me the right to argue my viewpoint and air my concerns.

I , in the meantime will continue building bridges so that our people can cross together while you and the likes of you no doubt will persevere with the construction of concrete barriers that future generations will tear down with their bare hands.

Good luck to you in your search for utopia.

VP , let us say no more on the subject , let the people judge my conciliatory constructive approach for the benefit of all our people both present and future with the fear of conflict removed for ever and with all of Cyprus , and eventually Turkey as members of the most successful union of nations ever. Let the people criticize me for being a Cypriot , for considering both Greece and Turkey as foreign nations just as every other nation considers Cyprus as an independent nation.
I will defend your right to express your views regardless of how much I disagree with them , I hope your "mother nation " also respects your right to express your views , just as they "respect" the rights of the Turkish journalists to to so !!

My nation is that of Cyprus , my record has been well posted in over 1200 posts .I love and adore our island and

its people and will reprimand those that use insulting language against our people.

Respecting your right to express views does not include reading further posts from you and I intend not to.
Here is where I stand and here is where I shall leave things.

You know, this is exactly the reason why I am becoming more and more hard lined than I was. Call me naïve if you like but when some one preaches love and respect I expect them to live by what they preach. I expect them not to sacrifice their beliefs even in the face of defeat.

The pattern that seems to be emerging from nearly all that preach in this manner seems like some sort of veil they are hiding behind. It even looks, sometimes, like they are hiding from themselves.

Those that start off by telling us that their love has no boundaries soon start to draw a line when their views are not reciprocated. In other words their love and tolerance relies on agreement. If agreement is the sole condition of your love then what are you offering me. Who can hate someone that agrees with them. What you are saying is I will love you on my terms and my terms only, but if you disagree I will turn my back on you. I will not talk to you, I will not acknowledge you but I will give you the token offering of a statement of respect.

I have said this before and it is truer today that I am more afraid from people like that than the die-hard Turk haters. I know where I am with them and they will never change anything. Those that claim to be modern day saints however are dangerous to the point that they have the power to deliver me into the hands of the latter. Then what? Do they then unite to convince me that a Cypriot is worth more than a Turkish Cypriot. What you are asking for is for me to become a Cypriot alone and drop the Turkish whilst you offer to drop your Greek status. What you are really asking, even if you do not know it is we will become Greek speaking, Greek thinking and Greek run Cypriots. The village names will revert back to Greek names the roads will be named with Greek names but you can have Turkish names where there is a majority as a token of our respect. Official Cypriot language…. Greek with token Turkish taught in schools as a second official language all be it of minority status. Greek writing on produce in the shops with a Turkish translation until the point when Greek is spoken by all and there will be no need for a translation. Greek road signs with Turkish underneath for the same amount of time. Greek festivals where Cypriots will attend and Turkish festivals where it is a minority event. A majority of ethnic Turkish Cypriot police in TC villages and token ones all over the island. Tourism based on Greek history and a brief mention of the Ottoman era just like on Cyprus TV on Sky.

This is what those of you that are are asking to sign up to. You have no respect for our fears and our dignity and our wants. You have no respect for the hardships we are facing in coming to terms with the way you conduct yourselves. We feel we are being duped but you have no respect for that either. If you refuse to understand us then what right do you have to demand understanding and trust. It does not even come down to trust because those things will not happen necessarily because you want them to happen but because that will be the natural course of things and we can see that. We just don’t want it that way. Can you not try to understand that.
