Distances between towns?

Postby zebedee » Sun Sep 24, 2006 11:51 pm

Hello, I'm trying to gauge from the UK (at the moment!) the time it takes to travel around between towns. From what I read about the speed of drivers I guess its all a bit relative, but wondered if anyone can tell me roughly how long it takes by car - Pafos to Limassol, Polis to Pafos, Skoulli to Polis, the high mountains to Pafos? Limassol to Nicosia? all replies much appreciated!

pafos-limassol 35 mins
limassol larnaca 40 mins
limassol nicosia 45 mins
limassol protaras-ayia napa 55-50 mins
nicosia- larnaca 35 mins
pafos-nicosia and pafos-larnaca 80 mins
pafos-troodos (mountains) 70 mins
polis-pafos should be like 10 mins or something

thats all with moderate traffic and always going max the speed limit of 120km/h. add 5-10 mins for each just to be safe, heh

I would suggest Paphos - Limassol is more likely to be 45 minutes, if we are talking about center to centre. Paphos to Polis is about 40 minutes, providing you do not get stuck behind slow moving lorrys/tourists!

it depends on the traffic, usually there isn't much in Cyprus however if you hit Limassol during peak travelling time you will get stuck in all the road works and traffic can be backed up for miles.

There are bridges over 3 of the round abouts now and when the roadworks will be over there will be no traffic problems :D

The worst traffic jams I've seen are in Nicosia in the centre of town and on the main road out of town that becomes the Nicosia-Limassol highway. In rush-hour the traffic is like central London!
