Offensive graffiti in Limassol

Postby miltiades » Fri Sep 22, 2006 9:26 pm

Just returned from Cyprus after a fantastic 5 day break .On my first day on the way to Ayios Athanasios , near the round about spotted the following offensive graffiti on a wall belonging to Laiko cafekoption.
" F..K ISRAEL
F..K U.S.A
F..K TURKEY
This is a very prominent part of Limassol , just further up from JUMBO toys , and thousands of people will have seen this offensive message.
I was offended and wanted to do something there and then , my brother however convinced me , for the time being , that it would be a waste of time.
I returned the following day and , for the first time in my life , pointed a spray can towards someone else's property and begun to to spray over this obscenity, the spray paint was the wrong type so could not totaly obliterate the offensive sign but at least distorted the message to make it unreadable.
Apart from this , I had , as always , a fantastic time , pleased that the continuing process of making Limassol a first class resort is impressive , but saddened at the stupidity of the young drivers of cars and bikes who continue their criminal behaviour unabated by the authorities who obviously turn a blind eye. It is such a shame that these criminals are allowed to spread their wings and cause havoc with their irresponsible , selfish , barbaric behavior on the roads. I noticed a number of bikers riding at high speeds and displaying total disregard to all , even saw a number of bikers with out number plates !!

I have renamed the 28th October str in Limassol as " ODOS FRENOKOMIOU" The entire road is a mental asylum.

It is precisely mentality such as yours that is giving Cyprus a less than attractive projection overseas , thankfully there are thousands upon thousands of Cypriots that are prepared to stand up and tell the world that our Island and its people are a civilized lot and not a bunch of lawless irresponsible shortsighted morons who are hell bent on the destruction of our Island , just as the same morons instigated the coup and encouraged Turkey to invade our Island. It matters to me how my Cyprus is seen overseas .

We should write ereywhere WE LOVE TURKEY AND ITS PEOPLE!...we have to let the tourists know that no matter what they did to us and keep doing we love them, forgive them because we are nice and friendly over here!Whoever says a bad word about Turks who still occupy half my country is NOT civilized!

Y hide the truth?I think its good,to remind them that people here after 32 years STILL live as refugees, are tired of it and they want a FAIR solution as soon as possible.Plus i do ,actually no,i mean WE do hate them ( i dont think ul find a GC here in cyprus who will say otherwise. So yeh F..K Turkey.

Sotos, Cadaunovera,
You can persue a fair solution and justice for all without being offensive. This just betrays the writers ignorance and prejudice. Miltiades ia 100% right. I bet I know what foreigners think about the so called Cypriots that write such crap-ignorant morons. Well done Miltiades.

Miltiades,

Welcome back. I noticed there were no F..K BRITAIN. I guess they know which side of their "bread is buttered", with all the British tourist there.

I would have given a £ million pounds, to have seen you, a 60 year old man, with a spray can, "tagging" walls. Anyone who saw you, must have thought, you were a left over Hippie from the 60's.

Well done for putting your "paint", where your mouth is, unlike other idiots on this Forum.

kadaunovera , I understand you are a young man and feel ,as I do , angry that after so many years part of our island is under occupation by what the majority of our people see as a foreign power.
The process of removing the foreign troops from our Island can only be achieved in an atmosphere of political negotiations and no bravado talk is going to force Turkey to remove one soldier from Cyprus. The only force that can do this will come from our Turkish Cypriot compatriots .Insults and accusations will continue for hundreds of years unless we , the Cypriots , realize that we simply do not have a choice but to negotiate and keep negotiating and understanding that our Island does not only belong to the majority but equally to the T/C minority and all other emerging minorities. Britain doesnt just belong to the English , it also belongs to me and to the 250 thousand Cypriots that live and work in the UK. Your anger and frustration is understable but do take notice of Sadik , Issy 1956 , Kikapu , cypezokyli , bananiot , Natty and others , all true Cypriots who share the view that a solution will only come through negotiations.
