British Cypriot moving to cyprus? good or bad?

Postby pinky6782 » Fri Sep 22, 2006 5:23 pm

Me and my fiance (we are in our 20's) are thinking of moving to cyprus for good. Any advice for any British Cypriots who have done that? Has it worked out or have you returned to the UK? Any advice will be appreciated! Also, what kind of jobs for a girl are available out there? I have mainly office experience.

Thanks!

Very important to secure a good job first. If not you would soon get disappointed and make your way back to the UK, like thousands have done before you.

Saying that, I came to Cyprus with no job lined up. I managed to get one straight away in the telecommunications field. Have not regretted it since. Enjoying life out here to much.

Where in Cyprus are you thinking of moving to??

I would say secure a good job first. What about the army service, have you done it?

We are probably going to move to Limassol. Is hairdressing a big demand or Teaching English as a foreign lanugage if you know?

Go for it.

It is a great place and the opportunities are all over! Just look around until you find what you really want to do. I have moved to Cyprus reluctantly about 5 years ago.
You will need about 6 months to adjust. After that you will love every day that you wake up there.

I moved out here 3 years ago and don't regret a minute of it. OK it's a little 3rd world compared to the UK but hey thats part of the appeal - to leave behind the fast paced, expensive life the UK offers.

I've been back to the UK 3 times since and have alays cut my trip short (last visit only lasted 4 days) as i couldnt wait to get out of England even though I was brought up in the UK and spend all my life there.

The first thing that suprised me about spending my first winter here was hoe beautiful and amazing the climate change was up in the mountains. You gotta go skiing if you come.

Hope this helps
