Lynne,

You can get Sky here, as I understand it, via a UK address. There are plenty of posts in the forums regarding Sky. Just do a search and you'll find the info. Re: local cable. my only experience so far has been with Cyta's "Myvision" service. And I can honestly say........its sucks! We've literaly just canceled our conection. In the basic package they offer around 30 channels. most of which are dull and repetative. My advise, don't bother, read a book. On the other hand, there are plenty of other options avaliable on the Island including Primetel among others. Again, there is plenty of info in the forums on this subject. just have a search around.

Hope it all helps:)

I have a 4.2m dish in Nicosia and get most sky+ channels but not all...

I think you can use a smaller dish on the coast tho, 3.2ish

Mark at big screen tv is superb, give him a call on 99323300

He knows all the tricks for sky tv and has all the equipment as well..

:D

And remember that receiving Sky in Cyprus is illegal. The same for Nova Greece ;)

we've just had a system called showtime installed, a heck of a lot cheaper then sky and you only need a small dish, plenty of choice, films, sport, documentaries, news, something of everyone. :)

SKY TV is not illegal in Cyprus, it is just not quite legal! What I mean by that is that you are not committing an offence by receiving SKY here; it is just that you are breaking the tems of your Contract with SKY, which is that you have a UK address.

Having said all that if SKY lost all its 'foreign' licences it would be in a sorry state! So watch - and enjoy!

Incorret, but since when has piracy bothered anyone in cyprus, shops selling pirate dvd's openly, dvd rental shops renting "buy only" and out of region DVD's....

How can nova greece be illegal since it is advertised by mulitchoice?!

We've just installed 'mivision', and is really useless. The only reason we connected to it was for the LTV&Alpha channel to watch greek football.

We use to have nova cyprus, but that was quite s**t as well.

anw, to my point now.. We were talking with a british couple who are renting our house at the moment, and they said they joined an arabic company. It has all the english channels, and they said thay found it much better than skytv.

the only disadvantage to it, is that it has arabic subtitles. But they seemed very pleased with it. their children as well were going on and on about it..

I am sorry i dont have any contact numbers..but if you ask around..The only thing i know, is that they pay £175 per year. Quite cheap!
