SKY TV is not illegal in Cyprus, it is just not quite legal!

Makes sense :eyecrazy:

since when has piracy bothered anyone in cyprus

never :D I just felt I should give this information ;)

How can nova greece be illegal since it is advertised by mulitchoice?!

Nova Greece is advertised by Multichoice in Cyprus? I think you are wrong. They advertise Nova Cyprus.

Dear Sotos

SKY must not "knowingly" supply a subscription to anyone who will receive it out side the UK / Ireland.. as this is where they have righted for the rights to show sports / movies ,etc.

Over 23% of Skys subscribers are reckoned to be outside the UK

I know many Cypriots who subscribe to Nova Cyprus in London on Hotbird...AND who watch Nova Greece in Cyprus...

SKY, Nova, ART , etc are not going to complain about each other's "poaching" as they would lose subscribers.

It is not PIRATING as the subscription is paid for.

With a large dish one can receive unscambled content from the UK ( 8 BBC channels / ITV / Men and Motors / SKY news / CNN / BBC Radio 1-7/ BBc4 Lw.... blal bla ... I guess you'll be saying we should pay the UK TV licence fee, too ? :-))

PS .. I'm biased as this contributes to my livelihood !

Dear Eternal

What you say simply isn't correct .. allow me to explain

One can get most of the SKY channels on a 1.5-1.8m dish - there are so many 2nd hand ones about - where ppl have upgraded to get BBC etc

for £13 UK / month one can get more than 30 quality channels .. ( UK Gold / Living / Discovery/ Nat Geo / Animal planet..and the adverts are at least in English and the program guides are easy to navigate.) there are more than 50+ channels available, but many are Shopping channels.

If you aren't a huge sports fan the £13/ month SKY Mix of Entertainment and Knowledge is the BEST value package available in Cyprus, in English

As ever, I wish to point out that I am biased - as this contributes to my livelihood :-)

Depends how desperate you are to have BBC, on showtime they do show english soaps, also all the Discovery channels/animal planet/BBC food/5 movie channels and premier sports (which i could do without but i guess hubby has to have something) intotal 50 channels.

for the set-up and equipment +a whole yrs subscription it cost me 480.00cyp and i must say i'm very happy. :)

Dear Eternal,

precisely my point .. it is possible to pay £50 more and get double the amount of discovery channels, choice of time to view.. UK ads... and 14 soap channels :-))

But as you say.. if you want Footie.. Showtime excellent choice as far less than SKY !

Take Care

I couldn't possibly live without my Sky TV, it's like my life support machine, switch it off and I'll die.

I get my service from a company in London called Insat International. They are the best.
Their website is www.insatinternational.com .
