Statement of the RoC President at the 61st UN Gen. Assembly

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

With all due respect Pyrpolizer Mr Papadopoulos may refer to Cyprus as "my Cyprus" when he has the full support of the TC's. As things are at the moment it is inappropriate and provocative.

I call Cyprus MY Country too when I speak to people about it. Does that make me a criminal?
Furthermore do you think that when I say that I mean I own the whole place?
When you answer me, please do away with the whole I am standing up for Tpap crap cause I dont like him anyway, so that would be baseless. I just think that you are taking nothing and turning it into something.

Then I guess you know that our reaction to the crime you commit against us is inevitable, right?

What crime? Since when retiring in TRNC become a crime. Since when paying hard earned cash for a luxury villa became a crime? Please Piratis give it a rest. Remember the Orams?

Sometimes I wonder if I need to stop reading the Cyprus Problem section altogether. It is all recycled crap. Same things over and over and over. None of us is contributing to anything we just say the same things again and again...

andry, you and I can refer to Cyprus as "my country" it is perfectly normal. But it is inappropriate for a head of state to say this knowing full well it will provoke the TC's that he does not represent.

Perhaps he got the deeds from those people they sent to jail recently. I bet he was disapointed when they bounced

Hmm not really. The GC president of the Republic could have zero support from the Tcs as he is elected separately. The same goes for the TC vice president, he could have zero support from the GCs. All the President needs to have is TC Ministers with whom he would have a mutual trust. Nothing more than that. FYI when Makarios was elected he did not get a single TC vote as the TCs don’t vote for President.

Anyway as you know the results of the invasion are not recognised by anyone, hence the RoC has to abide to the 1960 constitution. Imo there is no other solution possible than negotiations for the return to that constitution. Obviously one of the matters to be discussed is that both the President and Vice President must secure the trust of each community voting separately.

NB. Do you think Denktash or Kutchuk ever got any votes from GCs???

Good at best Papadop is a Turk hater and can never have our support or represent us. When his term is up or he dies which ever comes first he will go down in history as the man who cired to get his own way and the man that secured division.

I never quite understood why it was done like this...I mean surely in a democratic country, everyone should be allowed to vote for their president/Vice president?

Peace! :)
