Where to get a dog (pref. ESS)

Postby pantheman » Tue Sep 19, 2006 1:53 pm

Hello to the animal loving community,

I have decided i would like a pet dog. I want (pref. an ESS - English Springer Spanial). I want it to be a puppy.

I didn't just want to get one bred in someones back yard, but from a reputable source. Perhaps with good parents , KC Reg (if exists in cyprus) etc.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Pantheman.

Why does a dog have to be a pedigree - there are thousands of dogs who can give you love and happiness without having to be a pedigree. Think again!

Yes.... l agree how sad we come to live on this lovely Island and yet some have to own Pedigree dogs. There are hundreds of lovely dogs being destroyed for the want of a decent home.
Pedigree dogs and breeders should be banned.

Yes, yes...euthenise the breeders. Way too many strays and dumped animals in Cyprus.

Blinking heck,

sometimes i wonder why i bother to post at all. For those small minded people here is my reply:

1. The want of a ESS was not because it was a pedigree, infact i hadn't even thought about that. I like the spanial breed period.

2. It was a genuine question, if you have no info, then pls just shutup, i don't need your lectures , thanks all the same.

So, pls if anyone can give me some sensible info i would be most grateful, to those who just have snotty remarks, save em.

Jesus !

P.S. Doglover, you must know someone who can help ???

if you don't need all the paperwork then try the rehoming centres first and ask for a spaniel. About 4 months ago BFAWS in Larnaca had a Papillon that needed rehoming, they still have a Great Dane too.....

I found in the paper yesterday this: "English Cocker Spaniel puppies, black and red, boys and girls, Excellent show quality, Excellent pedigree (father is world Champion) Information 22383983/99884578.
I have to say though, I do agree with the others who have replied to your post. Re-homing an animal in Cyprus is the best thing to do, there are hundreds and hundreds of cats and dogs put down every day because no one will take care of them. If i were you, i'd save the 300 quid it's gonna cost for this dog and get one from the shelter, you'd be making a difference in the Animal Community.

No need to be rude Pantheman - we were not making snotty remarks we are people that care about the dogs here in Cyprus. Your post specifically said you did not want a dog from someone's "back yard" so obviously a dog from a shelter would not be good enough for you then!! If you don't want from someone's "back yard" or a shelter then the only other place is a breeder!!!

I think to be fair that is what he was asking about...

Rescued dogs "can" have all sorts of problems so looking for one of good parentage who will be loved from a puppy is not a crime, and should not be criticised...

Hope you find what you are looking for pantheman, but you may have to buy in england/abroad to get the best chance of a pedigree ESS...
