How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Greece want Turkey to recognize Cyprus

Postby Viewpoint » Tue Sep 19, 2006 10:03 am

UNITED NATIONS - Greece wants Turkey to become a full-fledged European democracy and member of the European Union but insists Ankara must first recognize a reunified Cyprus, Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis said.

Exactly what Turkey has been saying all along.

vp,
With all respect, that is what everyone has been saying. If there is one thing that all involved including even Turkey has been saying is that the current status quo is to no-one's benefit. The question is how do we reunify Cyprus in such a way that most Cypriots including majorities from both communities are happy?

You have missed the point Alexis. If indeed the quote is correct, expect a barrage of insults agains Dora, from the Greek Cypriot bash patriots.

And why would that be Bananiot?? She said something wrong according to them? I am not saying I agree or disagree with her I am just asking why you think the Greek Cypriot Bash Patriots would throw insults at her.

Maybe I am reading it wrong. She said they want Turkey to recognize Cyprus. She also said re-unified. What is so wrong with that according to the patriots? I guess I have been away too long...

Bananiot, who has elevated anti-Papadopoulos propaganda into a science, knows well that the above quote is not correct but chooses not to disclose the fact and to correct the quote, because truth and fairness is not his concern. He instead chooses to let people in doubt as to whether the quote is correct or not, simply because he cares only to carry out anti-GC and anti-Papadopoulos propaganda on the assumption that it may be correct. He would have wished that the above quote would have been what Bakoyiannis has said, simply because this would have been in line with the Turkish thesis, but also because it allows him to promote his propaganda.

For the record (and Bananiot already knows this,) Bakoyiannis said that Turkey’s road to the EU passes through a re-united Cyprus, and that Turkey must recognize Cyprus (meaning the RoC) in order for its accession road to proceed. The above quote by viewpoint is taken from a misquoting (as usual) of a Turkish media source.

Because we want Turkey to implement the Ankara Protokol first, otherwise we will veto the accession efforts of Turkey, according to our government. A reunified Cyprus is the product of a succeful solution process. Thus, Turkey recognising a reunified Cyprus is no big deal.

Slowly the many oil Kifeas. I do not have to defame Papadopoulos. He does okay by himself. As far as the Turkish propaganda is concerned, perhaps you should examine your thesis. I remind you that you have practically called upon Turkey to take pre emptive action against Cyprus, before the balance of power changes in our favour.

Turkey cannot take pre-emptive action because we have a firm capacity to swiftly shoot down any number of their F-16s that will dare enter our airspace with such an aim. The first rocket or bomb they drop will signal the engagement and locking on of any of their aircrafts with highly accurate missile systems with up to 42, 20 and 12 kms of deadly range around the free areas of Cyprus.

Watch out for a number of Turkish military proud nationalists that will pop into the forum, and try to give me a lesson on the mighty of the Turkish army!
