Just trying to lighten the mood a bit i was thinking of some of the funny things i have seen out here in sunny Cyprus.
Not so long ago i saw an advert for a Cypriot company called Icarus Balloon Flights. Now it may have been some time since i was taught the story of Icarus and Daedalus in school but i do seem to remember the whole point of the tale was that Icarus got too cocky, flew too close to the sun and died from the resulting crash. Naming your Ballon Flight company after a famous air disaster muppet is a bold move to say the least.
Also i live near a D.I.Y and hardware store that advertises the fact that as well as ladders and building materials they also stock "severall tools". What the tools are exactly as yet i do not know.
I was having a conversation about the ' clubs' in Paphos with a nice lady when i happened to mention the one called Kalligulas. She told me i was pronouncing it all wrong and that i should say it like 2 words, Kalli and Gulas because kalli means good and gulas means, erm, like testicles [she said]. So i replied ' Are you seriously saying the club is called Good Nuts?' to which she replied, straight faced, ' but of course, why not?'
I do believe she was having me on, probably.
Let me know what you have seen and heard cos it is a funny old world out there.
