SIX MEN standing trial for the illegal transfer of ownership and sale of Turkish Cypriot land in the Ayios Theodoros Tyllirias were yesterday found guilty on all 59 charges.
The Paphos criminal court found Kato Pyrgos community leader Krinos Theocharous, Nicosia land registry officer Michalis Kalathas, Kato Pygros Tyllirias community council employees Charalambos Charalambous and Georgios Savvas, entrepreneur Costas Constantinou and private individual Andreas Savva guilty for attempting sell Turkish Cypriot land in Ayios Theodoros Tyllirias to a land development company in 2000 for £972,000.
The men were found guilty of charges including among others conspiracy to commit fraudulence, issuing false documents, abuse of power, covering up a felony and corruption of a public servant.
The court ordered that the defendants be taken to Nicosia’s central prison until they are sentenced next Wednesday.
When will all those that illegally sell Greek Cypriot land in the occupied areas be convicted? I think that this is important for the solution of the Cyprus problem. The illegal sales should stop immediately!
