No problem for the info, obviosuly it is more of a problem for you as you have a family to support. I am 23 so money isnt so important right now.

SEO is basically working your arse off trying to get websites/content as high as possible in the search engines like Google & MSN. It's an on-going battle thou as they are always changing there systems.

PPC is more advertising based, say you have a banner on your site everytime someone clicks on taht banner you get paid for it. An example would be Googles Adsense but most companies have there own systems therefore getting more money etc.

Well as far as for SEO, google the term mobile phones , i work for a company called www.mobileshop.com , you will understand what i mean then, and i have also run their PPC for them for over 2 years, so i have lots of experience with the industry, looks like im gonn ahve me work cut out once i get over their then!!

You should really have a problem getting a job here, just dont expect high salarys. Only way of getting good pay here is by working for the British Forces but doubt you would want to go there right now!

There are a number of companies doing seo and mostly around the areas of online gambling, my best advice would be to forward your CV to recruitment agencies here to see what they can find for you. Then at least you will know before you get here if you can carry on with your current career etc.
