Greek religion in Cyprus

Postby EUropean666 » Wed Sep 13, 2006 7:47 am

I ve been several times in Cyprus for my business, i talked with some people but i never seen anyone gentile or 'e8nikos'. Is there anyone believing to Greek religion and philosophy? I dont believe that zeus or whoever exist but i respect the superior culture and science of ancient greece against the christian/muslim cults.

Many Greex are crypto-Greex or they have started talking openly of returning to the pure Greek culture instead of this foreign cult that dominates greece since 300 a.d., while people are talking openly about the lies of christian occupators such as "krifo sxolio", the barbarism of the byzantines, the dark ages of the nation, the cooperation of the clerics with the ottoman occupators and etc.

rassias' site will give you a glance!

thats a good question. Religion is the religion of Gallilea. Christianity and Islam are based on this religion, so they are cults. They have nothing to do with the Greek civilisation.

Personally i am an atheist but i agree with the e8nikoi and gentiles that we will have to defend the greek religion and culture and not the foreign one.

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isn't hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
and the world will be as one.

Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Speaking generally (not in the context implied above), religions and cults are different things.

Cults are small communities that isolate themselves from the rest of society and choose their own 'prophet' or leader outside the official religious structure of the country. They also choose their own religion.

Religions are widely sweeping theologies which also influence the way society behaves on a big scale.

Institutional churches or religious systems are recognised by the government and are even part of the government in some countries.

A cult can develop into an institutional religion if it attracts enough supporters. The Christian religion started as a tiny cult rebelling against the polytheism practised by most Greek and Middle Eastern countries.

Origin of the word religion: 1150–1200AD; Middle English word meaning conscientiousness, piety, to tie, fasten, to bind

I think religion is equal to "divide and rule"

It should be banned all over the world!

It would be difficult to ban something that's so much part of human nature. What should be banned is fighting about religion, but it seems that is also hardwired into humanity.

Look at European history - the Spanish Inquisition; the Roman atrocities on Christians; the religious wars in France; England; the Crusades - everywhere you look there were religious wars.

As long as there are power hungry people taking advantage of the naivete of religious people, there will be conflict. There's the solution of separating church and state, which appears to have worked eventually in Europe and the USA.

Religion is not a part of human nature...

Religion is exploitation of a need to believe that life is something more than pre existence, that there is some reward after death..

Wars about religion are just another part of ego, my god is better than your god...

That is real human nature...

Heaven and hell were created to scare people and make them obey certain principles.

Countries exist to place rules and laws that people should obey.

Now do we need such rules? If we were all people with conscience and principles then there would be no reason to be tricked or forced for doing the right thing. We would do it anyways and we would do it even better.

Unfortunately among as there are crooks that would be happy to harm and exploit others without the fear of facing any penalties. So keep dreaming laptanige, but know that in real life the crooks are eventually caught and punished.
