Why Bother?

Postby StuartN » Tue Sep 12, 2006 5:27 pm

What is the point of contributing to this forum? - I mean it... It seems to be 'possessed' by a very few individuals who are unwilling to listen to other's viewpoints without flaming them, insulting their education or knowledge of the Cyprus problem and generally demeaning anybody who doesn't hold the same views.

Nor are they willing to share their (obviously) vast knowledge of the situation with the regular 'newbies' who dare to venture onto the forum without implying that pre-requisite knowledge of Eastern Mediterranean politics is mandatory. This is arrogance of the highest degree and only cheapens the few of you who indulge in it.

No wonder you've got problems......

I shall, however, continue to add my voice to the hulaballoo - particularly in defense of good grammar and the English language.

I shall now retreat to my bunker with a ham sandwich and a nice cup of tea.

even though 9/10 discussions ar epure repetitions, i must say i have learned a lot through these forums, especially about how the "other" thinks.

besides that i made a couple of friends, through meetings.

so it worths going through the repetitive discussions

Completely agree with Cypezokyli. Despite the repetition and the flaming that happens, I think it is a great place to learn a little about the Cyprus problem. Anyway just because someone flames you it doesn't really matter, you always have the right to answer back and expose that person's arrogance, if indeed thay have been arrogant. Hopefully people will stick to the forum's rules and attack arguments not people.

I agree with you that your contributions in this forum are pointless.

Your contributions would be appreciated a lot more here: http://www.usingenglish.com/forum/

Good luck.

Again, Piratis, you have missed the point - probably purposefully. The first sentence is a question - not an assertion.- which renders your contribution meaningless.

I trust you didn't take the rest of the text personally
