The Capital Nicosia is only 15 minutes away from the sea where you can eat fresh fish and drink raki as you watch the beautiful sunset going down over the Pearl of the island known as Kyrenia.

The best place to live in Cyprus is limassol. Nothing else compares with it.
16 kilometers of beaches.
Temperatures are normally 5 Celsius below the rest of all other places. i.e (40 Celsius in Nicosia : pleasant 33 in Limassol.)
25 five Star Hotels in Limassol. (Compared to 1 (one) in Nicosia and 3-4 in Pafos and nil elsewhere.)
5 Star restaurants’s serving you fresh fish right on the beach. water splashing your legs just about.
Activities never ending in Limassol: Theatre's (plays for all over the world perform on ancient amphitheatre's in the open)
Carnivals, wine festivals, the Lemesia activities, Russian ballets, Dancing groups from Eastern country's, bouzoukia, concerts, you can go pass this city.
In 20 minutes you could be in the mountains enjoying Souvla, and again in 5 Minutes for your house you could be swimming in the warm and friendly waters of the most beautiful, vibrant, exciting, central located, modern, City in the MEDITTERRANNEAN.

Anyway I could go on and on and ooon but I do not want to embarrass too much some people here!

Only been to Limassol once; must have another butchers!

Ansi.... we're in Cyprus but head of my wishlist is to see New Zealand... Why if you're there already are you not considering it for your retirement? :?: I've heard it's brilliant. My niece is in Australia and pops across to NZ for the w/e regularly. Pls reciprocate and enlighten us on the pros/cons and best areas of NZ.

sorry dont know how to do the quotes thingy.

OMG ask a perfectly harmless question about where to live in cyprus and already the BRITISH HATE Mongers are on your case about buying so-called 'stolen land'. If I were you I would bypass Cyprus altogether and find somewhere less controversial like ermmm IRAQ!

P.S Look out for Lysi!!!

Hey stupid.Obviously you havent read any of my posts..cz if u did u would have known that i DO like brits,i also have british friends. What i said is a fact,it is wrong to buy stolen land ffs,and another fact is that most of the ppl who buy there are british.I wasnt calling all brits greedy for god sake,i was talking about those who are buying in g/c properties so keep your hair on hon.

Btw its not hard to quote, above of every post on the right theres thign tht says "quote".click on it

Limasol nicer than Girne? Are you serious? That's like saying Sheffield is a nicer City than Paris.

Behave, people will laugh at you.

They are very different. One of the major problems in Limassol is car emissions which create a lot of pollution in the old city.

Kyrenia (Girne in Turkish) doesn't have this pollution, thank heavens. But Limassol does have that lovely seafront - you can walk up and down 16 km of paved paths. There are also something like five huge supermarkets, those are convenient.

Kyrenia is the pearl of this whole island. Karpaz region has the best beaches, go to Golden sands miles of deserted beach with golden sand and crystal clear sea water.

Dont come to Cyprus anski.
Its full of retired people from Europe who die soon after they come here. All your aquaintances and friends will be THOSE people.

All you will be hearing is funerals.

Kyrenia beach is full of rocks. 99% is very deep. Limassol beaches are dirty. Karpasia has a few beaches but its like a desert there. Not a soul. Also very deep waters.

Dont come to Cyprus. Go top Lebanon, the plateau in the mountains is 5 minutes away from the best places beach etc, there was never war there, and with 100 pounds a month you can live like a King. Thats where I will go anyway.

Thank you for all your suggestions. we would certainly not be buying immediately. Probably move around to see as much as possible & then try the area we like best with a long term rental.
Is there any Jazz on the island? My husband is a musician/drum teacher (45 years experience) prefers modern or swing jazz to trad jazz. We are not dependant on an income but would he likes to play & teach. Music is in his veins.
