Now that the Orams have won, what does the future hold ?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Kikapu » Mon Sep 11, 2006 7:23 pm

I just want to go back to the Orams for a minute, while you guys beat the shit out of each other on other issues. I know Pyrpolizer explained yesterday, that the lawyers fees will be picked up by others, and not by the litigants themselves. Here's the question. How on earth did the legal fees gotten to be around £750,000 pounds. it was basically trying to serve a judgement from one country to another. It was rather an easy case and should have been relatively cheap one at that. Each Lawyer would have had to charge £1,000 pounds each per day for a whole year to reach that amount working 4 hours a day. So, the amount of the legal cost does not add up with me at all.

I think, the whole legal fees, specially by the Blair team, was so overly inflated, that, even had the Orams lost their case, it would discourage other GC's to hire a lawyer to pursue their own claims. The logic would have been, hey, even if we win our small plot of land from the TC's, the legal fees would cost 10-20 times more than the what the land is worth, and still wont be able to go to my land. The hell with it they would have said, I'll wait for a long term settlement, assuming Turkey still has any aspirations to join the EU, and if not, even more reason not to pursue the land problems in the courts, and owe the lawyers money we don't have to begin with.

But had the GC's won wouldnt it be the Orams who would have to pay the legal fees? I thought the loser pays.

I think is on those who bring the case to the court, which in this case, was the GC. It may have also been agreed before the trial, as to who should pay, based on the outcome.

I would just like to make a comment here, without getting into WW3,

You had a chance in 1960 to prove you could live under the above principles, you messed up big time. Now you want to retunr to a situation where you can use your numerical superiority to reduce our community to the level of just another minority group in our own country. Well if we are ever to mix again we want guarantees that will make sure you do not attempt to dominate, control and discriminates against TCs. We do not trust GC administered human rights and democracy...noway.

VP , I don't see how you ccan keep repeating this, its rubbish. Only last week I was spending the afternoon with a couple of TCs from the north Clay shooting (they were good too), they had no fear i was gonna turn the gun on them. Also why not pay a visit to the Oncology hospital in Nicosia as see how many TCs (from the north, just check the registration plates) that visit the GC hospital, in no fear of their lives. I'm sorry but you are talking rubbish. There is no fear here, just people that don't want to see a just solution and use lame excuses.

So please, just give me some upto date facts about how you fear for your lives, you know 2005 onwards not 1959/60 onwards, i bet you can't. If in the event you can, i'll take off my hat to you and will start to sing your same song. Can't be farer than that.

PS THAT GOES FOR ANYONE ELSO TOO.

Viewpoint , Pantheman is absolutely correct , you appear to nurture an ulterior motive by persisting in your hypothesis that the two communities can not co exist. Its about time , in the words of the late Lennon , you Sir , Give peace a chance !

Good points Kikapu.
I really don't know how the costs skyrocketed at that level. Even if we account for Cherries 300,000 where did the other half a million go?
I mean the trial in Cyprus costed only about 300 pounds!

Pantheman,
You are absolutely right. Viewpoint imo is one of those persons who knows how to scare the TCs. This "scaring" policy proved very effective among the TCs, I don't know why, it seems it has roots over centuries. Denktash was a master on that. It took them 30 years to find out he was lying....

Rubbish as in its not true, we did not have the chance to build a united Cyprus with human rights and democracy for all abck in 1960?

Only last week I was spending the afternoon with a couple of TCs from the north Clay shooting (they were good too), they had no fear i was gonna turn the gun on them.

You may not have done but who knows many would eg Kifeas, if he knew these people had sold disputed land to developers.

Also why not pay a visit to the Oncology hospital in Nicosia as see how many TCs (from the north, just check the registration plates) that visit the GC hospital, in no fear of their lives.

These people are desparate for medical care they have to submit to GC doctors, who in turn cannot really do anything bad to them as it would be to obvious and would cause the hospital to many problems, litigation etc.

I'm sorry but you are talking rubbish. There is no fear here, just people that don't want to see a just solution and use lame excuses.

If you took the time to read my post careful you will see that you are way off track I actually stated that we want "guarantees that will make sure you do not attempt to dominate, control and discriminates against TCs. We do not trust GC administered human rights and democracy...noway".

With 40.000 Turkish troops here as deterrants we have not feared for our lives for the last 32 years. The fightneing thought is what would happen if the army left, what would deter GCs from using force and dont say the UN they cant even protect themselves let alone us. We now have a safe haven in the north and can avoid interacting with GCs totally if we wish, this was not possible before and intercommunal attacks were easy to inact and manipulate blaming the other side. This fear will be renewed if the Turkish army leaves unless we are given real guarantees which will ensure neither side tries to use violence against the other.

Shit, after what I said you have the nerve to repeat it?
I don’t have to prove anything either to you or to anyone else. It makes me mad even hearing it. If you want me to be as paranoid and schizohrenic as your nephews in Turkey with whom you obviously don’t differ much: YOU PROVE IT TO ME. YOU SATISFY ME. AND STOP TALKING. DO AS I SAY!

You are the ones who want to live in a united Cyprus so its up to you to prove to me that such a move would be best for us all. I dont have to convince you that this is the case because I dont have a problem with division recognized or not.

VP WROTE :
""These people are desperate for medical care they have to submit to GC doctors, who in turn cannot really do anything bad to them as it would be to obvious and would cause the hospital to many problems, litigation etc. ""

You need a doctor VP ., You have a mental problem , " they have to submit to GC doctors "" How can you say this , these people are ill they need help from any Doctor regardless of nationality , grow up and face reality , your heart is full of hatred for your Cypriot compatriots , I said it before and I will say it again , I love all my Cypriot brothers , Greeks and Turks, will you say it just once ? Are you so full of hatred that you can not see what the Turkish Cypriot Imam said recently.
