I just want to go back to the Orams for a minute, while you guys beat the shit out of each other on other issues. I know Pyrpolizer explained yesterday, that the lawyers fees will be picked up by others, and not by the litigants themselves. Here's the question. How on earth did the legal fees gotten to be around £750,000 pounds. it was basically trying to serve a judgement from one country to another. It was rather an easy case and should have been relatively cheap one at that. Each Lawyer would have had to charge £1,000 pounds each per day for a whole year to reach that amount working 4 hours a day. So, the amount of the legal cost does not add up with me at all.
I think, the whole legal fees, specially by the Blair team, was so overly inflated, that, even had the Orams lost their case, it would discourage other GC's to hire a lawyer to pursue their own claims. The logic would have been, hey, even if we win our small plot of land from the TC's, the legal fees would cost 10-20 times more than the what the land is worth, and still wont be able to go to my land. The hell with it they would have said, I'll wait for a long term settlement, assuming Turkey still has any aspirations to join the EU, and if not, even more reason not to pursue the land problems in the courts, and owe the lawyers money we don't have to begin with.
