Just joking.

He/She said

Even if many have heard about the Cypriot airlines, the truth is that they are considered as a reliable company.

Sure the issue of safety is biggest and the rests follows.

Sure the improvements issue can become the biggist thing in the mentality and behavior of them, but equally proportional problems exist also in the other bigger air companies.

Any opinions?

Cyprus Airways used to be a very good company until 2002. Even since it's been downhill and, to me, they crashed.

Their customers services is the WORST I have ever experienced. And believe me, I lived in Africa and flew with some local companies that were quite shaky but their services was good.

I am flying almost every weekend from/to Beirut. Normally with MEA, which is an excellent company in my book, but had to fly with Cyprus throughout the summer.... out of 7 weekends, only once did we fly on time. We have been delayed up to 4 hours and NEVER has Cyprus Airways kept us informed about the delays/reasons/time of departure/etc. Not even in the business class. Cyprus Airways treats their customers LIKE SHIT. I have written twice to complain and they did not even bother to reply... and I am a frequent flyer !

Now, more worrying, when it comes to their plane I have serious worries about the maintenance. I of course never checked their engines but the inside of the planes leaves to be desired. The seats are old, used, a bit shaky and you can see the iron frames in most of the business class seats (which I have never seen on any other airlines).

This is very sad because I really use to praise Cyprus Airways. Flew a lot with them and was very happy. Even the flight attendants were quite friendly. Everything has changed now. Unfortunately. I understand their problems, but as a fare paying passenger, I don't have to suffer from it.

What bothers me the most is their attitude and arrogance. I and my company spend about CYP 20,000 in flights every year.... most of it used to be with Cyprus Airways.... well, no longer. I am now using Lufthansa, British Airways, Austrian Airlines and others and avoid Cyprus Airways as much as possible.

I truly hope that their will be a change and that the company will get back to where it used to be... but I am not very optimistic.

To be honest, I feel much more comfortable flying with British Airways. And it has nothing to do with the cabin crew. I have come across rude cabin crew on both airlines. British Airways isn't the same as it used to be many years ago. The cabin crew were much more polite and accomodating back then, whereas now, it just seems to be a boring routine for them. (eg. Give everyone their cup of coffee and meal, pass out the duty frees, and then their job is done.) But over all, I like flying with them.

I really like Lufthansa and Emirates too.

So, you don't want to hear of my experience landing in Paris on BA with a troope of fire engines following us then :D

But, you are right, flying with BA is good. Emirates is great too.

Last time I flew to Cyprus, I came by Air Cypria and found that to be really good. The airline hadn't been advised of my vegetarian meal and offered to prepare me something, which I've never had elsewhere.

Cheers,
Mark
