The Cyprus Astronomical Society, in cooperation with the AstroCyprus website team are putting together an event for the observation of the lunar eclipse this thursday night! The event will be at Meneou beach behind the Larnaca airport. The phenomenon starts a bit after 19:00 and ends just before midnight. There will be telescopes and binoculars there for all to look through! Looking forward to seeing you all there! Dont hesitate to bring your friends and/or kids! the view of a majestic moon through a telescope is nothing less than outstanding!

Not to take away from this informative post, for those interested, take a look at http://www.heavens-above.com/ to see when you can see LEO (Low Earth Orbitting) satellites in orbit from Cyrpus. They look very much like shooting stars, although I've only ever seen them by naked eye.

I've seen 2 over a 3 year span (only 2 weeks in Cyprus each year) .... but the Keo does kend to distort my eyesight towards the end of the evening
