I live in the UK , I get involved in local politics , I'm highly critical on many issues and if someone uttered that stupid phrase " if you dont like it here why do you stay " I shall react quite angrily. All citizens have a perfect right to voice their approval or disapproval of varying issues provided such disapproval is within the levels of acceptability and within the law.I for instance , have never had much time for Royalty or Religion for that matter , but I do not chain my self outside a church , a mosque or a temple proclaiming my views neither do I insult the monarchy which means so much to so many.
The English who live in Cyprus , as well as the other nationals who made Cyprus their home have as much right to voice their criticism as the natives have. However a strong dislike of locals is out of order .There are many issues affecting peoples daily lives and such issues need to be addressed , not least the unacceptable and uncivilized treatment by some people , of animals , as well as the atrocious crimes committed daily on our roads by inconsiderate selfish arrogant mostly young drivers , and while I'm at it its about time that the government intensifies its campaign against smoking by pushing for more bans on smoking in public places , restaurants , pubs , etc.
I think the new national anthem , when we eventualy have one , should reflect on the passion of Cypriots for smoking and fast dangerous driving , something like " Its the smoke in your eyes , that makes me drive ,
the way I do , refrain ......
