British if you don't like Cyprus, go home

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby The Microphone » Tue Sep 05, 2006 9:12 pm

If only these rules applied for people who moved to the UK. Our country has been expected to change to accomodate all the millions of foreigners.

Ordinary citizens have had to bow and scrape to the now ethnic majority that have swamped the UKs shores............ and if you dont you are branded a racist bigot and thug.......

I prefer Cyprus to the UK and dont want to go back to my own country,........... and that is a damning endictment on the governement of the last 15 years.

But Cyprus, you are now in Europe and i'm afraid you'll have to get used to it as those that have exploited the UK will also be here soon too. And they wont be quick to leave either. And they'll be even quicker to whine and bitch.

Cyprus isnt perfect, nowhere is, but I know where i'd sooner be!

Comments like 'your brit, bog off if you don't like it', will soon i'm afraid, land you in very deep water. Which in my mind is a shame, because it's what I think of those that have been handed the UK on a plate.

The Microphone , you are so correct , I have been saying this all along , but the fault lies with the politicians of the last 25 or more years. To abolish long standing traditions so as to appease and avoid offending the immigrants i s a bloody disgrace. Successive Governments , the media , School authorities have denigrated the British culture and bent backwards to please the immigrants. When the EUROPEAN immigrants started arriving in the UK they integrated rather quickly with the locals , now you see people in the street and wonder from which century did they come from. The country is paying for the dreadful errors of the past but it looks as if it is far too late to do much about it.
I detest the fact that people who disagree with our Governments foreign policies are prepared to use violence indiscriminately against civilians .
The authorities are totaly incapable of reversing the situation that they created.
For years we were brainwashed in believing that our society was benefiting from becoming a multicultural one , what crap.!!

I dont like those who r like" i like cyprus but not cypriots".its not nice..and i do like brits!Since i started coming on this forum i only read negative things brits r saying abot us.Yeh ikno we not perfect..but we pretty close:p haha jk

I thought brits liked the ppl here(it seems that i waswrong?! :? ).Anws Some ppl on here is makin me think that all brits dislike us or soemhtin and its not nice..i think if ppl on here keep goin on liek this ,in a month everytime il see a brit ,il be thinkin oh they calling me right now cz a twat killed a cat in their street or soemhting loll.People like that r everywhere in the world and im sure its not better in the UK.No place is perfect..when u decide where u want to live u have to accept all the bad and good things of the place and the way of life there.

So what im saying its okk to say somethin that annoys u about cypriots or whateer, but u could say soemthin nice as well every now n then.Im sure you wouldnt like it if i lived in uk and i kept bitching about the locals all the time(for example lysi;p i think she lives in england?well we were all askin her y shes still there if she hates u somuch right?)its hte same thing.

And if i didnt like it here, i would leave.... there are good and bad everywhere........but one thing amazes my english friends is when i tyell them I can leave my car unlocked and I can walk the streets at night without fear of being mugged, assaulted or worse...........and/but where i live, we are the only english people..... pretty much just the way i like it!!!!

To add a positive note i love Cyprus and its friendly people. If anything i am often shocked by their help. One example was i had stopped to ask someone directions they said "hold on a minute ill drive there and you can follow me !" What an amazing result from a complete stranger. I am not idealistic or utopian and i made a calculated ,researched decision before moving here from the UK. Where ever i live i try to adapt to the local lifestyle and blend in. The last thing i want is english pubs or fish & chips . The greatest compliment i can recieve is when people cannot decide where i am from some even say Cyprus. Like others im happy to be here when i look at the bigger picture.

I think the vast majority of foreigners who live in Cyprus like their Cypriot hosts, but anynation will have a slightly different culture/set of attitudes to another and of course there will always be differences.

I dont think foreigners are 'always moaning about Cypriots/Cyprus' on this Forum - but people only post about things they dont like. By that I mean it would not be very interesting if people wrote say, 'I love the weather, taxation, family culture, driving standards...etc'.

But I think it is fair enough that people are allowed to express (reasonable) opinions about a country they live in. I am sure the many Cypriots who live in the UK complain about the: weather/traffic/taxation/crime - just like British people living in their own country do.

I have a lot of cypriot colleagues and friends...

I regard them at least as highly, and some more so than my english friends...

Its human nature to have a moan, be you english, cypriot or any other race, and its sometimes a lot easier to point out what you dont like than what you do like...

I also think there is nothing wrong with having a multicultural society, so I disagree with microphone there... what is wrong with a multicultural society is the 2 populations failure to properly integrate due to racism and bigotry..
