Slaves? The only slaves I'm aware of are the north African ones the Ottoman's brought over to Cyprus after they conquered Cyprus from the Venetians. Do enlighten me if you know more.

Turks came to Cyprus to exploit its people and the land. There is no doubt about this.

Did slaves pay taxes????

Were they allowed to change their religion and names so that they could own land?????

Did they have rights as members of a village??????

I've only just joined here but...I mean I'm british, I live in cyprus...And although i'm used to my british culture which was a totally different culture...I've CHOSEN to come here. And although at first I did find some things rude to me, I understand and have done my best to adapt and learn your culture and norms and values. I have been learning your language too and I do think if you CHOOSE to live in another country, anywhere in the world, you should be willing to do this. However...I do know that if the british are to blame for some of the things that have happend in the past, (which could be the case some way or another) that 99.9% of the people living in britain have nothing to do with it anyway and you can't hold it against them because of their nationality, right?. I do agree with ya though, if you don't like it here..Leave..But do remember It's alot better than Britain In many ways, especially Liverpool anyway hehe...But the real point it...Nobody should slag of nobody till they know them..Unless they steal ya boyfriend or something.

BY RIGHTS I WAS ONLY A HOLIDAY MAKER MAKING FRIENDLY CONVERSATION AND THEY WELCOMED ME WITH OPEN ARMS,SO THAT IN MY EYES ALONE SHOWS HOW FRIENDLY AND HOSPITALIBLE CYPRIOTS ARE.

hiya Miltiades, I know what you mean!! I never had anything against the actual people moving to the U.K, as you said our prisons are a better prospect for some of them. But to think they can come in and tell the british what to wear, while our taxes are housing, feeding, Giving them a mobile phone, T.V., and car. Which none of us would ever get off the government, has turned alot of British people kinda racist if ya know what i mean. Its just a p!ss take really...I can't believe that about ya local pool though..That blinking sucks!!! But like you said same thing applies here in cyprus just with some people not conforming to the culture having bad attitudes and lacking some respect. It's bound to annoy the people here, It would prob even annoy me now. Crazy world though eh.
