Why is that so stupid?

You would be surprised how many people dont post for fear of the response they will get from other forum members.. and this forum is about the worst I have ever been on for the flaming of other members and their opinions... However, Lana does what she can to keep it civilised, so I don't blame the forum...

Just remember, on any forum about 25% of the members actually post, the rest just read and take in...

Some may stumble accross this when researching their holidays, I am sure a lot of the posts do no end of harm to the tourism industry..

Especially threads like this...

We have the same issues here in the US. People talk crap about the Mexicans all the time. How they take American jobs away from Americans etc etc. There are jobs for everyone that wants to work. No one is taking jobs away from Americans. The immigranmts come here to take jobs that no American wants to touch. If they will be working their butts off then they deserve to be taking some of the benefits since they pay taxes like you and me and everyone else. Like Kikapu said, cheap labor is a necessity of the West culture otherwise we wouldnt be able to afford the luxuries that we do.

I never agreed with the position that immigrants take jobs away from the folks in the host nation, either. But there are really two parts to this discussion:

1. Legal immigration - where folks come in, get a national ID number, go off and work and pay their taxes, etc. In this case, you are quite correct.

2. Illegal immigration - where people jump the queue to get in, don't get a national ID number, go to work without proper permits, DO NOT pay taxes while they receive public benefits anyway, and then send the money they made out of the country. That's the big gripe in the US. Not to mention that the US government has little control over the Mexican border, which could be quite dangerous in and of itself. There are even reports of complicity at the border patrol to people sneaking in.

No issue with legal immigration - big issue with illegal immigration.
