Yes, I'm back livid and seeing red.
First they come and buy all the land, push all the prices through the roof, offer pathetic wages to their workers (£2.50 per hour... junemichael)
They walk around like they own the place with their snotty noses in the air.
They abuse the health system.
And what do we do? Take it all in our stride with a smile on our faces.
Pathetic lot we are.
I went to the hospital with my daughter the other day, she is mute.
I was told to pay the £1.20, which for me is a sacfrice as we went without bread that day.
Went into the line with at least 80 brits, and waited my turn (like a well behaved G.C)
When I went in to see the Doctor I was told that the government could do nothing for my child, and I had to seek private help for her.
My pleads that I have 7 children, and am struggling to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads fell on deaf ears.
You know what the Head of dept said to me?
Sorry but if you can't afford to take her for private help then you should just wait till you have the money.... and that was that. He totally ignored me after that.
SO BLOODY Pathetic.
We have enough cash flow to keep all these ancient Brits out of their graves so that they can continue exploiting us and our health budget, and the G.C's must just sort their medical problems out on their own and if they can't well tough luck.
Oh he did say that if I could take him to Lefkosia twice a week then they could help him there at the General Hospital, vre kumbare, I don't even have £2 in my pocket how the hell am I going to get her there and back once never mind 10\20 times.
My sentiments of Cypriots being heartless still stands.... if they can't gain any thing from you then you are meaningless to them and don't deserve their attention, or assistance.

This post does not sound truthful to me, she has a pc, and if not she has money to go to an internet cafe. She also changes the sex of her child ie;

Oh he did say that if I could take him to Lefkosia twice a week then they could help him there at the General Hospital, vre kumbare, I don't even have £2 in my pocket how the hell am I going to get her there and back once never mind 10\20 times.

And if you are really that hard up, then give me your address and i will send you 10 pounds..

Hi datalife

The Brits you criticise have been paying very substantial Social Insurance contributions throughout their life. When they register in Cyprus, the UK pays the Cyprus Government for their healthcare, so in no way are you suffering because of their use of public hospitals in Cyprus.

Of course, Cypriots, along with all other EU nationals enjoy the same free healthcare if they are in the UK.

As for pushing up prices; it is of course Cypriot land owners/developers/shopkeepes/taverna owners who actually raise the prices - and benefit from the increased demand to live in Cyprus.

I just find it bvery hard to beleive there were 80 'Brits' in the queue; did you ask their nationality - or do you assume everyone who looks non-Cypriot is British?

Some postings here, I find very hard to take too seriously.

I think he was critisizing the Cypriots, and not the British?

he was but he is blaming the Brits on the economy........Im sure most expats are smart enough to get private health cover anyway....
Im sure the cypriot health system is laughable and if this story is true its very sad that there are no organisations/schools that can help his child for free - these are social issues that Im sure Cyprus overlooks....

Man I am not poor or broke ar anything like that, but I have one child so I am sure to be able to provide. I never understood why people have a bunch of kids they cannot support. You can blame a bunch of stuff on the brits but you sure cant blame this one. If you are really in that hard a situation I am sure there are departments who can help you.

so because I don't fit into your perfect 2.2 children per family I and my children should be disregarded?
Do I own a p.c? no... do i go to internet cafes? no.... I have a mate. Who lets me use his p.c every now and then.
Considering the Brits paying social insurance... so what, so do I pay. but little good that did me when I went with my kid to the hospital... Strange how every1 feels holier than thou cause they have a few pounds in their pockets... should I murder my kids cause I lost my money, and now find it difficult to make ends meet.... keep your darn £10.00 unique, one day you might be hard up for it and curse me for having taken it. the predicament I find my self in, is not a predicament made for just the poor... let me assure you that I too had 3 houses and numerous businesses and more cars than I'd care to drive... and no i didn't throw my money away on booze etc... It's so easy to judge what we don't know.. because we have become a world of arrogant self serving individuals who have no feelings for the next person.
Your worry today anastacia is perhaps what colour to paint yor nails and mine is if I push an extra 2 hours at work will i be able to pay for school shoes for one of my many kids.... to each his own as the saying goes.
What beats me however is that my grandfathers, uncles and my late father all faught in the EOKA against being exploited and colonised... we lost many family members in that war... yet we seem to forget them so easily, we are now worried whether those same people are getting good free health service, yet my child gets sent out the door.
Yes I could be lying but I could be telling the truth.... and if it is the truth that I speak don't you think it absolutely pathetic that my child should remain mute because our health system doesn't give a sh*** about her...
