does anyone here know how i can get my hands on Gapari or as we call it here Capers.They are all over the place in cyprus and i know they take the buds for capers in spain but i am looking for the spikey plant. cant get it anywhere in australia as far as i know and all the rellies are dead in cyprus now.Any ideas at all....? :cry:

ready to eat or so you can grow??
I know they import it from Cyprus ready to eat - I love it too!
Italian capers are good too, especially the large ones, like olives but tastier!

Here in London, the company Cypressa (http://www.cypressa.co.uk/)
sells them in jars of vinegar.

i know where capers are, they are in every shop here in melbourne. when i was in cyprus we took the plant and pickled that and chucked the bud(caper) i love the thorny stem and leaf . that is what i am looking for but thanks for the replies :D. maybe i could grow it if i knoew where to start.....

ohhh naughty how did u get the plant into australia?? they are very strict about things like that......

i didnt bring it in yet.... but it can be brought in if prepared in vinegar etc customs sees it all the time and is happy to let it in that way, i used to be able to get it by a company called morphakis

its on sale here in Sydney too
but getting the plant into the country would be very risky
maybe find out what plant it is and locate it here in Australia

try google ...u never know?!
