One last thing: We rescue animals, sick/injured and abandoned cats, dogs and kittens and then we rehome them. The ones we can't rehome live with us, that is why we need a cleaner, one that loves animals. At the moment I clean my house from top to bottom every day before I go to work (it is spotless) but I am too tired to continue, as I am sure you understand - but then again a lot of you don't seem to understand much except how to criticise when you don't even know the facts! Nearly every penny we earn goes towards helping the animals of Cyprus and we wish we didn't have to get a cleaner but we are not indispensable!

Well done junemichael

Wish I could take a couple of kittens from you, but as my last 3 have been poisoned I fear I would not be a better home..

That is excellent to hear june! You have my upmost respect! My mum also has dogs, (strays that she picked up off the streets) and she works a 10 hour shift every day. Living can be so expensive here if you're not earning a good wage. My mum needs some help with the cleaning, as she has to cook and such, before she gets ready to go to work. The Russian lady that works for her three times a week is absolutely lovely. She was a dentist in Russia, believe it or not. But she said that the wages are very low over there, so she wanted to work in Cyprus for a while to save some money. She originally asked for 2.50 an hour... but my mum will give her 15 pounds for five hours work. Plus she will give her gifts occasionally.

Would you be willing to pick up this lady, and drop her home at the end of the day? She doesn't have her own transportation, so it would be a bit unfair if she only worked for 4 hours, and had to pay for a taxi or bus home.

Sorry to hear about your cats :( Don't let these heartless bas^&% stop you from getting another cat. A week after my brothers poodle died, they found another poodle on the street, and took it home. It made me so happy that they are now able to care for/love another dog.

To be honest, I am a housekeeper in Oroklini and I don't think I would be comfortable working for you reading how frustrated you are getting with replies to your posting. I think i'd be frightened all the time if i didn't mop the floor right you'd fly off the deep end! I work for numerous famlies here and my average rate is 5.50 an hour. I clean three times a week for roughly 3 hours every day. I make nearly 50 pound per week per house I clean. At the moment I have 4 regular customers and take on holiday rental cleaning as well. I am earning nearly 250.00 per month. I would never accept 2.50 per hour.. that's a slap in the face!

I used to work as an office administrator for an offshore company here, and I earnt 2.50 an hour! I worked 8 hour shifts, five days a week, which totalled to 400 pounds per month.

Of course I wish I was earning more money, but it would seem that this is the average wage here. It's not really a lot when the cost of living is expensive, and you have high rents and bills to pay.

I think tourists will be really shocked when we start using Euros.

Thank you for your words of support re the animals - we currently need to find homes for 5 kittens (different colours) - 5 weeks old. So if you know anyone who would take a kitten off the streets please let me know asap.
