nevertheless you need the E-111 paper for insurance and to register to the local cypriot police, like i did when i lived Britain. Did u do it?

in addition enforcement of EU's legislation is pending in turkish occupied area. so you are still illegal.

Christine

PS: LaptaNige - is the meeting still going ahead at Hensons/Champneys? If so, watch out for the angry Scot!!!

Nigel , you can not be utterly insensitive to the feelings of 200 thousand dispossed Cypriots and expect them to be happy that you and many other Brits , are perhaps living in properties that they left behind in 1974. The fact of the matter is that the occupied part of Cyprus is , as far as the International community is concerned , part of the ROC in which part the legitimate government can not exercise control due to the fact that A FOREIGN POWER HAS 40 THOUSAND TROOPS .
The T/Cs are victims of the invasion just as much as the G/Cs are. When foreigners however , like you , show total disrespect for the victims , then you must expect some reaction.
The occupied part of Cyprus will never be recognised internationally and neither will it be annexed to Turkey , purely because Turkey is fully aware of how destructive such annexation might be. There are many G/Cs who would rather see the present situation become permanent , however the overwhelming majority of both communities would strive for a united Cyprus. The deeds that you have for your property are worthless if your property belongs to a dispossed G/C.

Miltiades: you wrote: "the overwhelming majority of both communities would strive for a united Cyprus" - sure you'll correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there a vote??? Seem to recall the North couldn't enter the EU because there was an overwhelming 'No' vote from the South to the Annan Plan/reuniting the Island?

Maybe there is a simple lesson to be learned here? If all Cypriots carried an equal vote then maybe the Annan Plan would have been adopted and the island reunified by now? Just a thought...... Sure I read somewhere that if all the 'yes' votes had counted as one i.e. the South and North, then this would have been an undoubted 'yes' vote - maybe if the GCs acknowledged the rights of the TCs then, maybe, we could all go forward - together!!??? Now, that's a REALLY NICE THOUGHT!!!

:D
