Is Cyprus "too Greek"?

regarding greex, coz you said about greex, according to rassias only the people of mani stayed clean during christian invasion. Christians and byzantines mixed greex with many other races (slavs, celts, french and etc.) but only people in mani, arcadia and crete stayed pure. thats why you ll find many greek-paganist symbols within their churchs, while people of mani believe on large quantities in the greek religion rather than the christian one. Though that Byzantines did anything they could to eliminate the greek civilisation (read Apostaule Paule, Nikodimos the armenian and many Byzantine emperors who treated greex as evil) greex managed to survive and on many areas they have retained their purity. Turks tried the same. they brough islamofascism and many areas were mixed with barbarian asians. Nevertheless Greek civilisation has started recovering. it is good, for those who feel greex but not christians, to have a look to rassias's site (www.rassias.gr)

here is his visit in cyprus http://www.rassias.gr/1044.html

Regarding these "pure" Greeks. Can I, for example, put them in a centrifuge machine a seperate them from the "impure" Greeks? Or do they melt at higher tempratures, compared with the others?

You'd better ask the manufacturer.

Actually I find that there are many similarities between Cypriots and Arabs. I am English but have lived in the Middle East most of my life. I regularly visit Cyprus (I have a place in Larnaca) and one of the reasons I chose to buy in Cyprus is because it reminds me so much of the Middle East which I love, i.e the sunshine, laidback lifestyle, the food (yes the Cypriot food is very similar to what I eat in Saudi), and also the Cypriot people are very similar personality wise to the Arabs - Cypriots look Middle Eastern, talk loudly, have an eye for women, are extremely friendly and hospitable (well the real life ones are, I can't say much for the people on this forum) and having money/respect is a big issue in both Cyprus and Saudi.

To Militades who quoted:
1. Cypriot women do not have to blah blah etc etc
How ignorant you are of what goes on in the Middle East. Have you ever visited any Arab countries? Go to UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and you'll see women treated just like they are in Europe and yes women can wear bikinis on the beach. I can also wear a bikini on the beautiful beach that my luxurious villa overlooks on my compound in Saudi. I have never had to dress top to toe like you mention. Saudi women DO NOT have to enter a public place unaccompanied and actually they can sit where they like on a bus. I go shopping on my own frequently as do most women here. And I can also follow my own faith (Christian) in a real church with a real Reverend. I have nothing but respect for the local people here and I feel honoured to be in their country as no where else in this world would I be able to earn the money I do which will enable me to retire at the grand old age of 40 so I certainly don't feel deprived living here. The shopping knocks the socks off the goods that are available in Larnaca and Bahrain is only a 40 min drive away if I should feel like real alcohol although the homemade brew is very nice.
Sorry for the long post but I get annoyed when I read posts from ignorant people who have no clue what they are talking about when it comes to living in Saudi or the Middle East in general. It is certainly not the Dark Ages here. You seem to think that every Arab is a potential terrorist (after reading your other posts) which is so so sad. I work with Saudis on a daily basis and they are some of the most respectful and hospitable people that I have ever met.

I guess miltiades was refering to Wahabbism, which is a Sunni fundamentalist Islamic movement.

Dont forget that S.Arabia is No3 in executions after China and Iran. Often some executions are cruel and they are taking place on pulic places such as stadiums...

Today around 80 countries in the world still criminalize homosexuality and condemn consensual same sex acts with imprisonment, of these 9 (Afghanistan, Iran, Mauritania, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, United Arab Emirates and Yemen) still have the death penalty.

saudijane , thank you for your lovely words , I have been to Saudi , I actually witnessed a man having his wrist removed , that was in 1981 , now I stayed in Jedd ah in a 5 star hotel and I could not get any alcohol , and Saudi women did have to sit on the back of the bus , in fact they could only board the bus from the rear.
Ignorant people , as you call them , who consider the M.East as the hot bed of terrorism are mostly basing their assessment on events developing both in the M.East and in Europe. I m hoping that you have brought to the attention of your Saudi masters your excellent post , perhaps you are in line for a further increase in pay.
How many Saudis , you ignorant individual , participated in Americas biggest terrorist attack with over 3000 innocent people dead ? Out of the 19 or so terrorist how many were Saudis ?

As far your statement """Go to UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and you'll see women treated just like they are in Europe and yes women can wear bikinis on the beach. """ Are you sure we are talking about the same thing ? Arab women in Saudi or Kuwait wearing bikinis on the beech ,?
And they are treated just like the British , French , Italian women ?? You most definitely deserve a rise from your Arab masters.
You also state :
"""You seem to think that every Arab is a potential terrorist (after reading your other posts) which is so so sad ""

Can you point me to the relative post based up on which you made the above statement , if not may I suggest in a gentlemanly way , put up or shut up.

OK - I'm new here but..... When did Enosis happen? :o

1. Why on earth should a 'Cypriot word' not be valid/exist because there's - quote "No Greek letter in the alphabet" (to write it)????

2. Cypriots - North and South are lovely people - sure they'd do a lot better if all the mainlanders butted out!

3. Why are Cypriots classed as Turkish-Cypriot or Greek-Cypriot - why not Cypriot-Greeks or Cypriot-Turks??

As far as I'm concerned, I've come to live in Cyprus - never been to Greece and hated mainland Turkey (the bit I've visited) - why can't 'Cyprus' be the important bit?

And, yes, I'm a female so all the angry males that have been having a pop at the females here that have posted, there's another one now to insult! Gentlemen? I think not - least not from the postings on this thread!

Greek customs and Greek terminology has multiplied in Cyprus. Especially since we have so many Greeks living in Cyprus now days.

Some got married to Cypriots and others have studied in Greece.

Also we have so many Radio stations and Television programs all pumping out the Greek culture and vocabulary.

We also have Cypriots program presenters who " kalamarizoun" thinking its is more fashionable to do so and they think they feel superior to the masses for speaking in a Greek accent.

I think we should retain our dialect and our culture because it is very important to retain our identity as being Cypriots first.

well...in cyprus i only heard some low quality oriental music with greek lyrics such as skiladika that are not greek music but a junk.

by the way..when i have to deal with the accounting stuff i had to fill in a balance sheet and profit and loss account unlike the "dilosh-isozigio" like in the greek-continental accounting system. i was suprised bcoz many terms were coming str8 from the english accounting terminology
