1st Step to Solve the Turkish-Greek Problems

Postby MehmedII » Fri Aug 25, 2006 11:49 am

Expediency - Road to Reconciliation

I-We can forget all the bad things about Turkish-Greek history & bad events.(Because they just fan the flame of the enmity.)

II-Everyone can hate to some of his/her family members. But just uneducated ones think that ''The only way to solve these problems is Kill Them''.But We have to believe that '' We are in need each other as Turkish Cypriot people.'' And we have to believe that we can live in peace together as educated-civilized Turkish-Cypriot Youth.

III- ?

-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-

1-First of all i want to say that; i beg you that i will be respectfull to all of you & to all of your writings as a Turkish.

2-Secondly, i want same respect from you.And i dont want any wrting in this topic bad about Greek,Turkey & Cyprus. I am warning you about this. This is the only way to solve the problems.

3-It seems you are more than 4000 greek-cypriot members in this site. But any of them couldnt generate some idea to ''How to solve the problems with our Turkish Neighbours''. It seems you need a Turkish young man like who think positive about Cypriot - Turkish Brotherhood

4-You know humanity came from 1 mother & 1 father.
And everyone can have problems with his/her brothers and sisters.
But just uneducated people solve their problems barbarically, savagely by this way.

5-I am the creator of this topic, so please give me the handle to put the rules of this topic.I want support from the admin about this.

6-You can write here only positive & possible sentences about how we solve the problems.

7-If you do not have any ''+'' thinking about peace and solution between Turkish people & its greek neighbours; PLEASE Shut Up and Do Not bastardize anyone.

I am an 19 years old Turkish boy.It seems our fathers couldnt MAKE Their MIND WORK TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS.They just propagated problems..

Lets generate solutions as Turkish & Greek-Cypriot Youth!

Not sure I count as Cypriot 'youth' anymore but I think it is imperative that the Cypriot youth take part in more cross-community ventures (e.g. sporting events) in order to heal the rifts of the past 40 years. I also think that partition of this island (even if technically agreed) is not the way forward. I back this up by referring to the countless studies that have shown that the Cypriot youth are far less forgiving than their elders who lived through the inter-communal strife. I truly believe that the partition of this island has polarised its two main communities even further and that true peace can only be achieve through some form of unity. We might have had de facto 'peace' for the last 32 years but we probably now hate each others guts far more than we ever did in the past, this has got to stop.

Mehmed, if you are talking about the Turkish Cypriots in this forum, they are educated and can speak English very good. No need to translate anything for them.

I don't think we have many Turks from Turkey here, other than those that come every now and then to post images with their flags ;)

1-First of all i want to say that; i beg you that i will be respectful to all of you & to all of your writings as a Turkish.

You got it right Mehmed. RESPECT is the number one requirement for anything positive to come out. Without respect nothing positive can ever come out.

Personally I respect all people that show respects to others and me. Those that are racists, show no respect and support crimes deserve no respect.

So the first question Mehmed, are you willing to respect Cypriots, our human and democratic rights and the sovereignty of our country?
If you are, then expect from us not only respect, but help as well (for EU for example).
But if you show no respect, then no respect is what you will get back. I hope you would agree with this.

I agree Mehmed, but thats not number (1), thats number (2) after Respect.
First we should show respect to each other, to the human and democratic rights of each other, for the sovereignty of each other's countries, and then we can forget about the past (were such respect did not exist) and start fresh always with respect in our mind from now on.

Ok, that is a good start but we know that can't happen overnight. This should theoretically be something easy for the youth to do as they do not remember most of the bad past events. In order to forget we can't just decide to forget we need to forge a partnership between the communties and slowly build up trust to the point where the shadows of these events dwindle away into insignificance. What kind of measures would you like to see introduced to build trust between the two communities?
