Planet Jupiter as imaged last night!

...dunno if my astro-thing is accepted here, as bombarding you with images might not be to the liking of the administrators (if so please let me know). So here goes.. got my new astro-camera yesterday so i took my scope out and took this image of planet Jupiter! its actually a short video clip (1min 20sec) which i've used to break out each frame (at 5fps thats 588 frames) and compose them to create this image.. enjoy!

Very interesting Astro ! so you can just attach a digital camera to a telescope ? or is it just a big zoom lense ? I guess you need a digital slr for this work ? Do you get a better picture from the mountains ?

Sorry guys I know its a bit off topic, but the night before last at 0300 I saw what can only be described as a shooting star!! It looked like the Enterprise had gone into warp.

On all my years I have never seen one and it was quite errie.

You can go back to Jupiter if you like. Sorry!!

Hi chedda. Yes u can attach a digital (simple point and shoot cheap camera) to any telescope with a special adapter (30 cyp or so..) and take AMAZING pictures! I've upgraded from that to actually buying an astronomical camera to better suit my needs. U can also take "prime-focus" pictures by attaching a DSLR to the telescope. When photographing, it doesnt really matter if you are in the city or on the mountains. When you are observing though, yes, the mountains are 1000 times better as from there you can see galaxies and nebulae much better through the telescope as you would from in the city (you propably cant see s*** from the city...:p)

Snad, wait till you see what we call a "fireball" !!! Shooting star emitting smoke and actually making "BANGS" when it burns into the atmosphere! These days we had the annual Perseid meteor shower so any bright shooting stars are possibly Perseids..

snad, did you make a wish when you saw the shooting star?

earth was passing through the debris of swift tuttle comet and last week was the peak, there were lots of metorites. what you saw might be one of them.
