I HATE CYPRUS!!!!

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

I love Cyprus as well. I love the fact that family means everything here. Unlike uk where your lucky if your kids are still speaking to you after they turn 18. Also, have to ask this question.. when the heatwave was on in UK, did anyone (air con or not) find it difficult to work an entire day? I mean with humidity it's over 114 F here right now.. It's hard to stay awake in this heat much less work!
I for one agree with the working hours, it's summer season and think the hours are fine. When you live here you get used to it, when you're a tourist on holiday for a week or two you get ticked off that things aren't open when "you" want them to be.. well guess that will teach you that you don't always get what you want in life!

Loving Living in Cyprus!!!

I wouldn't have Cyprus any other way. It is the laid back lifestyle that appeals to me, London is a rat race. I cant wait to move back to Cyprus.

Saturdays!! OMG...The weekend is the most important time for people to do there shopping and places are closed. If everywhere stayed open all day Sat & Sunday Cyprus would be making a fortune.

And how would people shop if they had to work during the weekend? :?

Interesting subject and the comments of others.

I remember the same problem 50 years ago in Cyprus, Greece and in the Sudan. I always thought it was because of no A/C and too hot to be on the streets let alone having to work after a more then small meal and being sleepy as a result.

Agree with the poster who was in KY (Lexington? nice city) we get spoiled on this side of the pond with the long hours everything is open, banks do 9 hours weekdays and half a day Sat., most stores do a 8-12 hours day except for super markets and some fast food outlets that stay open 24/7.

It was called cultural shock in the U.S. Foreign Service and you just have to adjust the local situation.

The grass is always greener on the other side.

I could name at least 50 things I hate about London but hundreds of things I love.

Newformz, I bet you ou probably love more things about Cyprus than you hate. Are you just frustrated and need to vent?

yes for me it was a love/hate relationship
it doesnt matter that its a small island - it still needs to cater for its people

Unfortunately for some, Cyprus still uses the colonial way of doing things. It can get frustrating at times, but you do get used to it.
Now they have gone into the EU, I bet things will change over the next few years. Just give yourself time to adjust to their ways and you won't remember how things were in UK.
