I declare myself as a Chelsea supporter of almost 50 years standing, but primarily as a fan of football in general. I can appreciate skill when I see it on the pitch, regardless of which team the player belongs to. What really gets up my nose is the abysmal standard of supposedly capable referees, and I don't mean purely with regard to the belief that Chelsea are "picked on" just because they're Chelsea! Of course everyone other than Chelsea supporters like to knock us (that's human nature), and this old chestnut about us having the money to buy success is rubbish - you can put 11 world class players in a squad, but you have to gel them into playing as a team, and not as individuals to be successful. But with football now having become more of a business than a sport, when a bad decision can cost millions of pounds, I feel it's time to adopt the Rugby style of refereeing with a video judge, who can instantly "replay" a piece of play to guarantee the right ruling.
Also, wouldn't it spice up the championship race if 4 points were awarded for an away win instead of 3? Anyone else agree?
Perhaps the way forward for referees would be to "clone" Pierre Luigi Collina, and use "him" for all matches!
