The greek Cypriot propoganda machine has really scored an 'own goal' this time! It has been reported (Fileleftheros paper) that the Date palms planted this year in and around Kyrenia had cobra eggs amongst the roots which have hatched out and 'caused a scare' in Kyrenia!!!
The date palms when dug up (from Egypt) have the roots trimmed and washed before transporting so this report is a load of rubbish!! The man who imported the trees has been quoted as saying 'if anyone finds any cobra or cobra eggs in the wild in Cyprus I will eat either or both in front of them'!! Washed down with a large glass of Ouzo no doubt!!!
